WH has censored employees from accessing the Drudge Report.

Bimbo Eruption? -- An Altogether Bad Weekend for Bill Clinton
As if it were not bad enough that Bill Clinton had the inglorious
distinction of becoming the first sitting President of the United States
to be sued, and had to be deposed in the Paula Jones sexual harassment
case, the weekend also brought what could turn out to be yet another
"bimbo eruption," as the Clintonoids described their man's extramarital
exploits back in 1994.
While Mr. Clinton was being grilled by Mrs. Jones' lawyers, Newsweek
magazine became embroiled in a controversy involving alleged sexual
escapades at the White House. According to the Drudge Report, known for
its reliable sources in the Washington media, Newsweek editors killed a
story by reporter Michael Isikoff that President Clinton has been
sexually involved with a 23-year-old White House intern. Interestingly,
Mr. Isikoff was the reporter responsible for breaking the Paula Jones
story.
According to the Drudge Report, the spiked Newsweek story would have
reported that the President and the young woman began having an affair
shortly after her arrival at the White House as a 21-year-old intern.
Drudge reports it has learned that tape recordings of intimate
conversations between the President and the young woman exist, as do
love letters written by the infatuated intern. The affair reportedly was
an open secret in the White House, as the young woman, a low-level
staffer, routinely visited the President privately in a small room just
off the Oval Office. The woman reportedly has been subpoenaed to testify
in the Paula Jones lawsuit.
Meanwhile, the story surfaced briefly on ABC's "This Week" Sunday
morning talk show. But when Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol tried to
introduce the topic of Newsweek killing the story, Sam Donaldson and
former top Clinton aid George Stephanopolous flew into high dudgeon and
Cokie Roberts deftly changed the subject.
Many Americans, apparently, are willing to forgive the President's
past indiscretions committed before he took office, especially as Mr.
Clinton has gone out of his way to portray himself as a dutiful husband
and father (remember those recent photos of the bathing suit clad
Clintons dancing on a beach?) Would Americans be as willing to forgive
Mr. Clinton adultery committed in the White House? Stay tuned for
developments.

because it's now a federal matter.
Maybe Reno is investigating. Ha!

Reno ought to investigate why Bill never solicitates her.

She (Matalin) is on the radio here right after Rush. Matt was on for about the
first 5 or 6 minutes.
He said that the white house has forbade the staffers from going to the Drudge
report
site.
He also said that the WH is hitting his site more than all reporters and
regulars
combined. He also indicated that the intern's depostion was less evidence than
the
tapes. Isikoff(sp) has hinted that Matt has been hacking his system (Drudge
denied it).
He thinks that Isikoff will still run the article, but the lawyers wanted to
verify some of
the quotes and sources (as we know the WH is not above suing someone). That was
about it.

WHITE HOUSE DAILY PRESS BRIEFING
WED 1/20/98 2:45 PM ET
SAM DONALDSON: Someone said that you or someone here has put out the word
that staffers at the White House should not be allowed to log onto the Drudge
Report.
Is that true?
MCCURRY: I -- I don't discuss that subject.
DONALDSON: What? Whether you have put out the word that you can't log on?
MCCURRY: I've heard calling it a report is too generous.
DONALDSON: Well, whatever you want to call it is fine with me, but have you
forbidden people to actually...
MCCURRY: No. People -- it's a free country, and people can do what they want to
on
the Internet.

Isikoff is accusing Drudge again of hacking into NEWSWEEK's system.
Drudge laughed as he mentioned that. Drudge indicated that he's
backing off somewhat, and thinks NEWSWEEK will eventually run the
story after more fact checking (verify sources, etc.) He also said
the WH is heavily hitting his site - more than the public at large.
He seems sure of the existence of the tapes.
He better be right on that. That's the story other than proving
a quid pro quo (sex for high paid job), and possibly jeopardizing
national security. I hope Bob Barr adds this to his "High Crimes
and Misdemeanors" impeachment file.
