70s Posters NOT for sale

[Oil Impressionist]

I have a memory of standing in a department store (Zellers in Canada)
and seeing all these posters hanging from the ceiling, wishing I had
the dough, the walls, and the . . . guts to buy 'em. Here are a few I
recall.

Short fat guy sitting in a toilet with his hand on the flusher -
"Goodbye cruel world!"

Pinocchio to Jimminy Cricket - "Ffffffffluck off!" (pardon my
language!!)

Don't remember the picture, but the phrase was, "Stop the world, I
wanna get off!"

Of course there was the cat hanging on *baby,* and the happy faces. I
also recall a lot of the Beatles posters, but I don't know where I saw
those.

Any you guys remember?

Personally, I was more into the Charlie's Angels posters when I was 13. One
corner of my bedroom was devoted to Farrah's famous swimsuit pose on one
corner, and Jaclyn Smith under some satin sheets on another.

But I do remember one slogan I saw on a poster, and it became my personal
slogan in high school: "I used to get lost in the shuffle, now I shuffle along
with the lost..."

I had black light posters hanging on my walls. Those psychedelic colors! All
I can remember off hand is the one with the peace sign.
(o.k., I'll admit, at one time Bobby Sherman and Donny Osmond dominated my
walls & ceiling)

:-) My Dad spilled PAINT on beautiful "Cherish" David when he was
painting my room. My Dad, not David. (I WISH!!)

When I was 9 or 10 and was home sick one day, I cut up all my Tiger
Beats and made 2 huge collages of the Partridges. Before anyone asks,
I don't know what happened to them - I sure wish I did!

I had a almost life sized poster of the Osmond brothers in 4th grade. I
would kiss them all good night before bed. Scary, huh?

That is why we are here Trish. You admit all the embarrassing things you did
when you were young. Everyone else 'fesses up to doing the same thing. And
we all feel some what "normal". That is what makes this group so wonderful!

I had a huge crush on Bobby Sherman, too, but I remember it as being
more in the late 1960's. I recall Tiger Beat running a lot of stories
about him and Davey Jones (and the othe Monkees, too) which was more
of a late 60's time table. Does anyone recall when the TV show "Here
Comes the Brides" was on?

According to IMDb, Here Comes The Brides was on 1968-1970.
When I was pregnant with my baby in 1977, one of my "boy names" I had picked
out was Jeremy, which was Bobby Sherman's characters name on the program! (I
had a girl, btw!).
Also, I saw Bobby Sherman & Davy Jones, along with Peter Noone (of Herman's
Hermits) during their Teen Idol Tour in 1998. I understand Davy has left the
tour and has been replaced by Mickey Dolenez.

The only drawback to this fessing up is that it spills over into "real
life," and I've found myself drawing some funny looks from my different
aged friends and even my family.

My older brother gave me a couple Partridge Family CDs for Christmas
this year, and he shook his head and looked at me funny (exactly like
he did back then!) when I started talking about how great this song is
etc.

Oh well, things never really change, right? At least I've stopped
kissing David's picture goodnight! (Larry just said, "I sure hope so!")
