Concern over the Volcano lava causing concern over the lava flow that
goes into the ocean.
I have learned that its not really been known but, the fear of the Lava
breaking off and causing a tsunami that could have real damage to and
around and even to Calif. With the breaking off of these lava fields
that extend into the ocean .
Can you direct me to someone that as information regarding this
concern.
Thank, you
Robin

Assume that you are refering to the "Great Crack" in Hawaii
and possibly the La Palma island issue in the Atlantic.

It wasn't very long ago that a huge shelf which consisted of the Lava from
Kilauea Volcano broke off and sunk into the ocean. I did have photos of the
"before and after", but, I'm not sure what I did with them. I don't think I
posted them on my website, but, I might have. Anyway, the collapse of the
lava shelf did not cause a tidal wave or any appreciable disturbance to the
ocean. You are invited to visit my Kilauea Volcano webpage where there are
dozens of maps and videos as well as over a hundred photographs from over
the last 85 years. There are also links to many other volcano websites.
The URL of the webpage is:

You're welcome. Lava breaking off and going into the ocean from the
Hawaiian Islands isn't altogether uncommon and usually causes little or no
damage. All of the Hawaiian Islands are volcanoes. All the best. KM
It can be dangerous and they fall into the water. I would be terrified
if this ever happened while walking on a beach.
I guess the odds are like flying. Yep by golly that is one thing I
will not do is fly.
I will never see the Islands or anyplace because I will not fly.
If I cannot drive I stay home. I know they say the odds are so great
that I would get killed in a car first.
You would have to drug me and stuff me in the baggage compartment .
Wake me when I am on ground.
I know just all in the head. LOLOL buts that is my story and I am
sticking to it.
No fly zone for me.

Your chances of falling into a blow hole are less than your chances of being
hit by lightning. A lot of people who have fear of flying visit Hawaii by
boat on cruises which are fabulous if you have the time and money. KM
