Here are a few my favorites:

1. Bad Taste - New Zealand's finest film. Ever.
2. Evil Dead II - The greatest horror film and horror film parody in 1
3. Dark Star - "Phenomenology"
4. The Magic Christian - Peter Sellars and Ringo Starr, father and son
5. Hellraiser - "It's ok. I'm Uncle Frank. Come to daddy!"
6. Kelly's Heroes - Don't ask me why. I just like it.
7. Pork Lips Now - "He's so cool. Man, he's cool. He's so cool!"
8. Dr. Strangelove - More Peter Sellars, more Terry Southern.

I may have the quotes wrong, I was usually pretty drunk when I watched
these movies. The original Evil Dead is also a great flick, but Evil
Dead II will always have a soft spot in my heart.

More music, Les Nesman.

Same here. It's just a war/caper movie from the early '70s, and most
such movies are terrible. Liking this movie sort of damages one's
credentials as a highly evolved being, at least on the face of
it. So why do we like it?

Thinking it over, I like it because it's a lot of fun and _extremely_ cynical
at the same time. The officers are corrupt, and one of the few good ones
(Eastwood) has been busted, and the only thing motivating the troops to
advance is the promise of loot on the other side of the line. And then there's
Donald Sutherland and Gavin McLeod as the anachronistic hippie tank
crewmen. I think it works because it's really a pretty good satire disguised
as a war movie.

There are a lot of great supporting characters, too, including
Don Rickles, and Telly Savalas (all doing their usual schticks). And
then there's that guy with the big lips who plays the German tank commander.
Wow.

Yes, yes. A favorite of mine, too, especially after a n unsatisfiying day
at work. Another irony was that they became heroes for planning of doing
the 'wrong thing.'The quest took on a life of it's own. The goal was more
tangible than the ideal that was part of the war machine. Each group of
soldiers contibuted happily and willingly material and expertise in order
to have a piece of the action. Its a confimation that sergeants get it done
and supply sergeants have all the connections.

I have read equally crap two line sum-ups of this great film in TV
listings. Just shows what a bunch of no hopers these TV reviewers are.

: 'Hey, we got an ARMY here.. they're beautiful people.." Oddball

"Theres summat wrong wid him !" Crapgame

beautiful and righteous for a change ?" Oddball

I still have a 45 single of the music somewhere at home.
'Burning Bridges' by the Mike Curb Congregation... I think.
