Lo All--

Got the message below in my inbox earlier. Took it at face value and
forwarded it to my cast, most of whom were sympathetic, some of whom
were suspicious...but the prize goes to the incomparable Will (Glen)
Marker, formerly of the East Coast, my director, who informed me that
OTHER casts have received this also....

So just a note that there's (at best) a sympathy scammer out there,
possibly with some other agenda...

I like to believe the best in people and give the benefit of the
doubt, but ya know...people like this make that difficult...

Dear AZ Rocky cast,

I'm awfully sorry to send this via email, but am hoping someone in the
cast might have a chance to read it. I sent a quick note over to your
Myspace as well.

I've had the insane luck to see you folks perform in person, and as a
lifelong Rocky fan and shadow cast member..I've got to tell you that I
think your troupe is without a doubt the most absolutely talented one
I've ever seen. I've lived all over the world and have been able to
see our beloved show performed by over twenty different groups. You
folks were the best..by far. The character, personality and attitude
were far and above anything else I've seen. Your Frank was simply
incredible. I feel so lucky to live locally!

I had the misfortune of being in a near fatal wreck after seeing you
guys, and I'm going to be out of state recovering with family (a lot
of broken bones) for several months. As well, I've got a few more
surgeries ahead of me. This unfortunately means no Rocky for me.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could I request your troupe sign
something for me? It would absolutely mean the world to me and I don't
care if its a bar napkin. My friends think I'm nuts for trying, but
I'm not exactly upwardly mobile and thought it might be worth a shot.
It would keep my spirits up till I can go see your shows again.

Enchante,

Tim Mitchell

Everyone got this e-mail. It's been the topic of discussion over at
LJ today.

Ah yes, it's the topic of the night in various cast LJs.
Many...creative... suggestions for both intent (escalating money scam
is a popular guess) and how to respond.

I did some mild searching, and reverse lookup shows a Stacy Mitchell
at that house (single family). Before anyone sends anything, we might
want to consider that one possibility is some kid is being teased
about being homo, odd, wimpy, etc. and the school jocks want him to
really feel the pain by getting stuff (good or bad) from Rocky
casts...

Anyone in that area who can do any checking?

I had a feeling it was screwy somehow, since it didn't mention anything
at all specific about our cast. What a weirdo.

My Caste got it, and we were all piling on suggestions for things to
send him when we found out it was a mass e-mail. I think we believed
it because he said he'd gone to our April show, which had been our big
Shock Treatment Weekend show. We're just too darn trusting, I guess.
(Plus it's such a bizzare thing to scam people for - but yeah, we
figure it was probably going to escalate into money requests.)

Did anyone ever find out if this was legit
or not? We received an e-mail from some claiming to have written
that e-mail asking for the information to be removed where it also
appears here - http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=4417123

Just curious if this turned out to be a true scam or just someone who

"was the originator of the email letter sent to Azrocky and his
cast...as well as a couple other Rocky Horror troupes I've seen. I
used to travel quite a bit for work and had the luck of catching
performances all over the US. When I became ill, I emailed them in
hopes of a note to cheer me up and then found the post listing all my
personal information on the forums including name and address."

as they claim in their e-mail to us?

Thanks

Anyone else have any information on this
guy? We received another e-mail from the guy claiming he is the
person that wrote the letter asking for his information to be
removed.

I realize this is several months late for
the last post and over a year since the original in this thread, but
if anyone is interested I know who sent you the emails. I signed up
with a profile to be able to respond here, but you can feel free to
email me or message me or whatever if you'd like to know more.
