I was just sitting here wondering how Squirrel's cat is doing as it settles
into its new home. Is she comfortable yet?
Is she still as rambunctious? Has she started typing her own posts yet?
Spring break is beginning this next week in this part of the world so
everyone who has put off getting their transportation in order is busily
swarming the local repair shops. The maintenance people at the local
football field are also busy putting up netting so that the Mexican free
tail bats can get out but not back into the stands. The stands will then be
power washed to remove bat droppings and any left over food the grackles
have not cleaned up already.
My computer got over loaded with all the work it was being asked to do this
week so it had to be shut down and helped to become like new again. It had
been looking up famous writers and books and genres of music and art and
needed time to ruminate on everything I guess. It was off line for a full
day forcing a wait on exploring the new lollipops in the forest.
What is happening in other parts of the world?

Kitty has settled well into the garden though is still not so sure
about parts of the house, namely my mother and vicinity. She is a very
good alarm clock, if a little early at times, but reasonably reliable.
Very cute, very active. I am doing my best to fatten her up and slow
her down, but rather than getting fatter she just seems to be getting
longer. I think the people at the Cats Protection place were wrong
about her being shy. Her voice is rather strident.
As for me, I have some days off and am working only one day this
weekend. Quite cool though I need to get on with some study work as
well as just doing the garden and taking my parents out for outings. I
think my mother shouldn't be driving. She disagrees and wants a new
car (don't ask about the old one- long!) Am enjoying my studies
greatly and feel that in spite of the many doubts I had before hand,
that this was the right thing for me to do. My social circle is also
expanding - which I think was much needed - both through my part time
work at the supermarket, and through my studies. Love the studies.
Just hope I do well in them.

Hope you are well too, and that your family troubles sort themselves
out.
Cheers
da Squirrel

Well I bet when you are that little your tummy doesn't give you much rest
until your human puts out some food for you. Of course it is even more
likely she just misses the company of her human or should that be squirrel?

Very cute, very active. I am doing my best to fatten her up and slow
her down, but rather than getting fatter she just seems to be getting
longer. I think the people at the Cats Protection place were wrong

Ohoh that sounds like the Mockingbird - robin sized grey bird with white
bars on wings - that was singing from around 2 this morning until 3 or so.
I am not sure he had finished singing loudly when I fell asleep but it was
quiet a few hours later when I woke up again. They will sing whenever there
is enough light to see by and are very aggressive to each other and
squirrels. They will fly along behind a squirrel striking its tail with
their claws until it is out of their area and up a tree.
Later when they have nests they will hit humans on the back of the head to
persuade them to leave the area of their nest and babies but if you turn
around and look at them they will break off their attack midway through and
fly on up to a perch and look at you as though to say, "Who's attacking?
Me?"
They will chase trespassers around their nests for half a block or so and
use the art of surprise.
Kitty getting longer is good too. Of course if she can still have kittens
getting fatter might take a lot more food. Isn't it around 6 months or so
they have kittens?
I bet the kittens, if she can still have them, will be cute. They are
usually easy to photograph because cats are so curious.
Female cats are very vocal when looking for a tomcat. They also stretch out
and almost seem to crawl along the ground while making noise.

As for me, I have some days off and am working only one day this
weekend. Quite cool though I need to get on with some study work as
well as just doing the garden and taking my parents out for outings.

It must be about time to harvest gardens there as we should be planting
them. It is already too late to plant carrots and some other vegetables
here because they can not survive the hot weather. We already have some
days in the 80s but more in the 60s and 70s.
21.1111 to 26.6667 C I believe it would be if the converter is right.
Anyway enjoy the good weather with your kitty and take lots of pictures
because they grow up fast. Maybe then she will let you do portraits of her.
I can picture you using a squirrel hair brush to paint her chasing
butterflies.
The Monarch butterflies that migrate from Canada, across our country, to
Mexico have been in record low numbers in their wintering groves of trees.
One professor here has started a program allowing private citizens to buy
milk plants also known as milkweeds so the Monarchs beginning to migrate
north again can lay their eggs on them and their caterpillars can grow while
eating the leaves. I suspect many people do not know it takes multiple
plants to feed each caterpillar and there can be more than one egg laid on a
plant.
Sadly the pollen from genetically modified corn seems to be bad for Monarchs
because the corn contains its own pesticide.
I hope plants there are more benign. Of course catnip mint would be. Maybe
that is why Kitty is so wild?

I
think my mother shouldn't be driving. She disagrees and wants a new
car (don't ask about the old one- long!) Am enjoying my studies
greatly and feel that in spite of the many doubts I had before hand,

Cool. Things one enjoys always makes studying easier. The hard work in the
field too.

My social circle is also
expanding - which I think was much needed - both through my part time
work at the supermarket, and through my studies. Love the studies.
Just hope I do well in them.

At the very least you will grow through all of the new exposure to things
you had not tried before.
The world changes so quickly one never knows what surprises will turn up. I
imagine your knowledge of art will give you an advantage too as it gives you
a different view of the world.

Hope you are well too, and that your family troubles sort themselves
out.

I am well but aware that many changes are going to occur over the next few
months and I lack the information I need so far because people have not made
decisions totally about what federal funding will be cut. So far the
federal government has decided they want to close the local airport to save
money but the state is thinking about taking it over they just haven't
sorted it all out yet. The state has a budget session every two years and
they are trying to decide on a budget, pass laws, and push political agendas
all in a few months as that is all the time the state legislature meets for.
If they do not get everything done they can be called back into special
session by the governor for a month or so again and again and again if
required.
Whooping Cranes are large white birds with red on their head. They are
close to extinct so are watched over specially by law. A judge decided a
few weeks ago that the state not allowing enough fresh water into the
estuary where they live caused the death of 23 of the birds - the birds are
close to your height and wade as well as fly and migrate from our coast to
Canada and back. The federal government is trying to establish another
colony in Florida and uses an ultralight plane to lead them back and forth
on migration.
Texas Attorney General is appealing the judge's ruling and so far has a
court stopping the ruling from taking effect.
Within the next month most of the water birds from here will fly north with
many going back to Canada.
As far as family troubles go, the coroner and the courts are still sorting
all of that out so I can not say very much except that one of my sons has
died. No one is talking to each other about it yet but it has been in the
papers now so can be talked about at least that far.
They are still figuring out what officially happened.
Thank you for your Tugs and Hugs.

Cat not going to have kittens, but is so far sticking to chasing the
Cabbage Butterflies only... they have suffered a little. Is that
better though than trying to decaterpillar the cabbages?
That's awful. I am so sorry to hear about your son. Must be really
awful losing one of your kids. Did he have his own family?
Hugs for your loss.

She has to follow her instincts just as they have to follow theirs. If they
are already butterflies they probably have already enjoyed all sorts of
experiences and if people are to eat herbivores have to be kept in check.
Perhaps this dance is beyond our ability to judge.

Thank you for the Hugs. It is even worse trying to wind up his estate not
knowing what one needs to do until things show up. Thankfully the courts
have final say in things.
You are right about it being awful losing a family member. No he did not
have his own kids but a great number of people who loved him as a family.
He will be long remembered by all.

Sometimes it is not the length of life but the life led. Sounds like
there were good things/people in his life. Still sad though, and tough
for you. : (
