There is much hustle and bustle of cuddle elves around the Gum Drop Castle
as everything from New Years is cleaned up and new things seem to be being
built. Carts of lumber are taken in the service entrance along with tons of
nails and brackets and adjustable thing a ma jigs. There is much banging
and thumping so some of the Cuddlers peek in and see shelves being built so
that they create little rooms around couches and stuffed chairs and candles
on tables with bowls for either meals or snacks.
Large Red roses and other flowers are on the walls around Valentine hearts
and who knows what else is going up.

Noooooooo!!!!! Not the driftwood and sand!!!! They r to stay!!!

Kelp-covered sand cushions, driftwood racks with hanging seaweed
bobbles, and large dripping candles on top of the driftwood. Smoked
eel and wasabi flavoured rice crackers.... and a bitsy of cheese...
and cool lemonade..

What do you mean Valentines? Not that day again?

Sigh. Squirrel was hoping to learn how to surf. Maybe can find a board
somewhere to polish up, then lean against to look good... ok sleep on
as it is propped up by piles of driftwood. Hmmm and a brolly ... or
maybe a piece of sail cloth with a tangle of fishing net propped up on
3 tall driftwood stakes... sweet!!!

Squirrel watches at leisure as a dance floor is built out on the sand.
Stands are erected in the corners for lights and a speaker with
joining bars on top from which nets hang with roses and jasmine and
passionflowers are entangled and one or two singing fish . A couple of
metres out from the stage are arranged old couches with dark red
merino throw overs. Small tables are set in between the couches, next
to which coolers await beverages.

Noooooooo!!!!! Not the driftwood and sand!!!! They r to stay!!!

A cuddle elf hears Squirrel's cry just in time and keeps everything having
to do with the sea, driftwood and sand. She wipes her brow at the thought
that they might have been swept away in all the hustle and bustle.

It seems to be coming no matter what Elf has to say so it seems a good idea
to take control and make it obey the wishes of any Cuddlers wishing to be
creative with it. Elf sees a dance floor as necessary and food and drink
and gardens and quiet places to sit and talk but is not sure what beyond
that.

Sigh. Squirrel was hoping to learn how to surf. Maybe can find a board
somewhere to polish up, then lean against to look good... ok sleep on
as it is propped up by piles of driftwood. Hmmm and a brolly ... or
maybe a piece of sail cloth with a tangle of fishing net propped up on
3 tall driftwood stakes... sweet!!!

Elf wonders if there is a cuddle elf who can teach surfing? There must be
since there is so much water and fun about the Meadow.

Elf peeks in and thinks that it really looks cool. He can't help wondering
if the singing fish need music to sing to and what type. He imagines they
must know many songs from hanging out with mermaids and singing whales and
whistling dolphins and he can not imagine what else as the sea is a very
loud place filled with music and even empty sea shells have a sound left in
them.
Now what was it Elf had to do next? It is a beautiful day and very relaxing
causing him to drift off to sleep for a moment.

Waking up as the sun goes behind a cloud and brushing the sand off himself,
Elf goes to an area of bookshelves and pulls some leather bound books down
placing them on a coffee table with a built in fish tank before sitting down
in an over stuffed easy chair. The top book has a sort of old blackened
hard leather cover and illuminated pages inside.
The book might have been recovered long long ago but the inside pages look
none the worse for wear. The first page has a very elaborate The Grammar of
Ornament illumination in sort of a Christmassy theme. The title page has
the date 1868 and that the book is by Owen Jones.

as the weapons of savage tribes before setting the book aside for a moment
and looking for a more Valentine oriented book.
This is a Valentine's Day themed event coming up even if their might be very
little dancing. It is more likely to be Squirrel surfing, can one dance on
a surf board, and Elf and some others reading Valentine poetry and prose to
begin with and who knows what might happen from there. Dancing seems to be
going out of style in the Real World so many Cuddlers just coming to the
Meadow from there might never have learned to dance.
Illuminated books are things of beauty if nothing else.
http://www.illuminated-books.com/books/pan.htm Perhaps the 1883 book of Pan
Pipes. It has a dark brown embossed cover showing Pan pipes. There is a
slight bit of possible water damage to the lower right corner but inside the
picture of Pan's pipes hanging on a stalk of grass while being examined by
two swallows on the wing shows the nature theme of Pan and his allure to
young maidens.
Pan appears to be a boy rather than a faun. Perhaps this is a country book
with more hidden between the covers than meets they eye.

"L'aprīŋŊs-midi d'un faune (or The Afternoon of a Faun) is a poem by the
French author StīŋŊphane MallarmīŋŊ. It is his best-known work and a landmark in
the history of symbolism in French literature. Paul ValīŋŊry considered it to
be the greatest poem in French literature.[1]

Initial versions of the poem were written between 1865 (the first mention of
the poem is found in a letter MallarmīŋŊ wrote to Henri Cazalis in June 1865)
and 1867, and the final text was published in 1876 (see 1876 in poetry). It
describes the sensual experiences of a faun who has just woken up from his
afternoon sleep and discusses his encounters with several nymphs during the
morning in a dreamlike monologue.

MallarmīŋŊ's poem formed the inspiration for the orchestral work PrīŋŊlude īŋŊ
l'aprīŋŊs-midi d'un faune by Claude Debussy and the ballets Afternoon of a
Faun by Vaslav Nijinsky, Jerome Robbins and Tim Rushton. The Debussy and
Njinsky works would be of great significance in the development of modernism
in the arts."
Ah well back to the book. They now seem to be singing about the Ballif's

Saint Valentine's Day, commonly known as Valentine's Day,[1][2][3] or the
Feast of Saint Valentine,[4] is observed on February 14 each year. It is
celebrated in many countries around the world, although it remains a working
day in most of them.[3]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine's_Day

So since Valentine's Day is a day of feasting and we seem to have few
dancers these days we should have a feast with room for anyone wishing to
dance or otherwise entertain. Elf wonders if Squirrel will surf in to show
everyone what she is capable of or if she will insist on a race on surf
boards?
What should the prize be for a race and will we have to worry about stand
for the underwater folk to watch from? It is their world after all and we
are just visitors to it. Are surf boards to them like planes buzzing our
sporting events are to us?
A slalom course around Jellyfish and whales as the jellyfish would just
deform out of the way, as long as they keep their stingers out of the way,
and the whales could use their tails to penalize anyone getting to close to
the poles or is that floats?
Now for the food and cooking. Nuts - check, chocolate - check, chocolate
nuts - check, cactus fruits - check, remove spines first note, what else
should we have?
Tables for two or three or five depending on where one chooses to eat are
available already in the library area or the beach area so that is no
problem. Might have to sweep the sand off first though. Elf is sure the
elves will check on that.
Squirrel made sure we have a great are at the beach.
Need to check on the music contests opening the feast day though.
Who's winning Elf wonders?

Yes sweep the sand off the dance platform. Squirrel waves languidly in
its direction. Actually I think a really cool theme for a costume
would be 'underwater' or 'surf'. Squirrel thinks it would be really
cool to see jellyfish jiving on the dance floor. Maybe we could put in
a bit of ultra violet lighting and a swinging changing coloured star -
lazer light. If people all wore jelly like outfits with black or
silver interior costume and little sparkly bits dappled on the outside
or bits only picked up by the ultra violet light... like... (Squirrel
finding hard to explain)... like floating jelly fish on the dance
floor!!! Like that!! Cool!!!! It be fun esp if bump into each other
and bounce off (no stingers allowed!! - although little beeper sequins
ok; that go beep when bumped into?) This could be such a fun party!!!!
What do you mean 'romantic'? Is it about romance? I think dodgem
fluorescent jellies that beep when bumped into would be SO much more
fun... and a great way to break the ice with people : )))) Colourful
cocktails will be surfed... just send your list to Elf's cocktail

called Mermaid Jone's Locker? (Squirrel thinks while Davy Jones would
be a cool name for a bar it might just seem to cast a little bit of a
pall on the party). Mermaid costumes also acceptable, and clownfish
costumes too. Whale music can whale in the background, with more
upbeat numbers too. Are their any romantic themed sea songs? Or a mix

Yes sweep the sand off the dance platform. Squirrel waves languidly in
its direction. Actually I think a really cool theme for a costume
would be 'underwater' or 'surf'. Squirrel thinks it would be really
cool to see jellyfish jiving on the dance floor.

Elf hunts up some antigrav suits for the jellyfish so they can be
comfortable out of the water. Some might stay in the water too so both
areas could be used.

Maybe we could put in
a bit of ultra violet lighting and a swinging changing coloured star -
lazer light.

Cool. Those who can see in the ultra violet range will enjoy that and for
the rest of us who can only see the glow from creatures like scorpions that
reflect black light it will be a new experience.
What colors of laser light should we put in? With the crescent moon we have
now the lights ought to really stand out. It was really nice around ten
tonight.

Definitely no stingers allowed having to carry meat tenderizer or other
first aid while dancing could get cumbersome. - although little beeper
sequins
ok; that go beep when bumped into?) Very definitely good for playing music
too if each is different.

This could be such a fun party!!!!
What do you mean 'romantic'? Is it about romance? I think dodgem
fluorescent jellies that beep when bumped into would be SO much more
fun... and a great way to break the ice with people : ))))

The jellies seem to think so too. Much more fun than just pulsing in the
sunlight during the day with their bells reflecting a rainbow of colors.
Some concern at being without stingers but the antigravs should keep each
one safe.

Colourful
cocktails will be surfed... just send your list to Elf's cocktail
list.

A fax/email machine appears on a central table where drinks can appear in
response to the requests.
Need to set the drinks down before sinking on the board once movement stops.
Well wouldn't need salt for the margaritas but the rest might not go well
with salt water. No wipe outs allowed during delivery. Drunk saw fish and
swordfish with no place to check their bills would not be a pretty sight.
Even a coconut over the tip of the sword might not keep everyone safe.

The bar gotta be sea themed too. Barnacle encrusted chest
called Mermaid Jone's Locker? (Squirrel thinks while Davy Jones would
be a cool name for a bar it might just seem to cast a little bit of a
pall on the party).

Allowing a mermaid to set it up would be one way to be sure it is done
right. The mermaids seem more than willing and are already dragging out old
treasure chests and asking the Little Mermaid's companions, Sebastian the
crab especially, for advice. The little seahorses are flitting too and fro
as usual.
Some dolphins are playing a game of keep away with a pearl necklace and
whistling good natured insults at each other. Elf wonders what other
treasure will be around when the bar is ready.

Mermaid costumes also acceptable, and clownfish
costumes too. Whale music can whale in the background, with more
upbeat numbers too. Are their any romantic themed sea songs?

Romantic Songs of the Sea by 101 Strings
http://www.allmusic.com/album/romantic-songs-of-the-sea-mw0000188856 might
work. Elf sees an ad for them but has not heard them yet. Elf looks
further into an old treasure chest and finds Romance on the High Seas known
as It's Magic in the United Kingdom. "
Elvira Kent (Janis Paige) and her husband Michael (Don DeFore) suspect each
other of cheating. For their wedding anniversary, Elvira books an ocean
cruise to Rio de Janeiro but her husband claims that unexpected business
will prevent him from going. Seeing an opportunity, Elvira pretends to take
the trip alone, but in fact sends singer Georgia Garrett (Doris Day), a
woman she'd met at the travel agency, in her place and under her name. By
secretly staying behind, Elvira hopes to find out if Michael is indeed
sneaking around behind her back. Michael, however, is suspicious over
Elvira's supposed willingness to go on the trip alone, and so hires private
detective Peter Virgil (Jack Carson) to see if she is sneaking around behind
his back.

Peter joins the cruise and, as part of his job, becomes acquainted with
Georgia. Georgia, following the instructions of the real Elvira, keeps up
the ruse by pretending to be Elvira to everyone, including Peter. Georgia
and Peter are attracted to each other and gradually fall in love, which
causes conflict for both of them.

During one of the cruise stops, Georgia's friend, Oscar Farrar (Oscar
Levant), comes on board. Oscar is in love with Georgia despite Georgia's
disinterest in him, and when Peter spots them together, he thinks he has
discovered the identity of Elvira's lover."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romance_on_the_High_Seas
Then there is http://www.nairaland.com/356306/romantic-song-sailor-lost-sea
Romantic Song Of A Sailor Lost At Sea
"As I sail the seven seas on a ship carved from Burmese trees
My tongue's got no crease, it's smoother than a rich butterscotch candy
kiss,
And loose like a Japanese chemise, smoothly & rapidly rhyming like Balinese.

Aujourd'hui, I sneeze in the breeze and freeze in the knees
Watching these fleas tease me with the red serum disease
But I neglect their sleaze, and release my expertise at Shakespearnese
For you, Honeypeas, who has and holds my heart's keys, Parti Pris.

You're overseas, my head agrees but You're always here,
My heart disagrees, going trapeze in reprise
Like some lucky escapees, Vietnamese returnees.

Your loving peace never does cease
To mold me like hand-made cheese
While my heart soars at diverse degrees
Like a game of Frisbees on the braes.

We're two peas in a pod, Two fairies in the seas,
Two skis in the pond, two bees in Cadiz.
Love guarantees that nothing ever goes amiss
when you hold my hand and yours I squeeze.
For without you I wheeze, very ill at ease."
and so on

Or a mix
of sea songs and 'romantic gooey stuff'?

Oh Yeah, Google seems to think there are over 13 million links to them so we
should be fine there.

Might need a few more barrels

Perhaps sticking with land based food would be a good idea? Inviting sea
creatures to eat their cousins might not go over well.
Coconut copra? Macaroons? Coconut chips? Pizza?

Also options for non fish eaters, and
those who do not wish alcoholic drinks? Blue lemonade? Raspberry pop?

All sorts of teas, fruit flavored water and smoothies and juices and
sweetened sugar waters and icees?

virtual cookies. There is a large Meadow here to explore between the
lollipop forest and the Gum Drop Castle. Care for some tea?
