will be taht some1 else will pay for it! :-)

Well, I guess it would be at the Four Seasons in New York City with
Melinda. I still remember a meal I had at a place in D. C., but that
was long ago and management has changed hands several times and I doubt
they have the same cook.

Just a *huge* variety of Indian dishes!
Served outside, in our garden.
Mrs Jon - of course.
Oh, and any cuddlers who happen to be around.

Dear Princess SLB:
My idea of a great meal would be anywhere
a good Cuddle-in can be organized.
I had such a meal Saturday night. What I ate was
simple .... chicken tenders and fries. What was
extraordinary about that meal, was that it was in
Vandalia, Ohio and my fellow diners were several
individuals who were at a cuddle-in organized
by Rita (Hytzipky). They included Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Court, Kennabear and Kedbear, Nitedulac
(Dave) and Mrs., Rita, CyberTiger and her
children, and finally yours truly.
I also like a good meal with family members,

Wouldn't matter what the meal was as long as all of the cuddlers could be there.

I'd start with cheese in puff pastery with raspberry sauce, then a
spinach, strawberry and almond salad with poppy seed dressing. The
main course would be shrimps and scallops in a creamy tomato basil
sauce served over linguine. For dessert....a sherbert pate.
It would be served in Edmonton, and Marten would be with me.

Hmmm... a good Italian meal, preferably in some little Trattoria in Italy with
Jamie which would include some antipasto, followed by risotto with porcini
mushrooms, accompanied by a good red wine and followed up with some Tiramisu...
drooling just thinking of it :).

I think I had my perfect meal this past spring when I was in San Francisco with my
boyfriend.
We were very hungry and walking aimlessly around Haight Ashbury, and by sheer
chance
wandered into a funky Mexican cafe called "El Something-or-other" (dang I wish I
could
remember the name!).
Now, I had been craving decent Mexican food for three years since I took a 2-week
course
in Cuernavaca. I got SO addicted to the cuisine there. Here at home there is not
one single
Mexican restaurant. So I was hoping this place in SF would be good.
Well, it was amazing. I had a huge platter of chilis relennos, rice, pintos,
guacamole and a
stack of hot corn tortillas. When I tasted the salsa verde that came on the side,
I nearly
cried with happiness.
My boyfriend, who had never had real Mexican food before, loved his meal and was
especially thrilled that he could get a Coke in a glass bottle!
The combination of delicious food, excellent service and great company made it one
of the
best meals of my life. I'd go back there in a minute. Now, if only I could
remember
the name of that place!

Oh, my goodness....do I ever feel old!!
Drive-ins like that were a part of my life for a long time, and I
think they still have a few in Edmonton. A&W was about the last to go
with inside seating....somehow it's not the same drinking root beer
outside of a car.

The A&W in the next town over from the little town I grew up in(we considered this
town over, called Junction City, to be HUGE, I mean they had an A&W and everything!)
still has an A&W with a car hop. They also have inside seating. So you get your
choice! :)

Oh lord. I'm gonna show me age, wrinkles and all. When I was a kid, our
town had a Dog&Suds drive in (only) restaurant. Served A&W rootbear and
about a dozen different kinds of hot dogs. I miss it, closed up in the
late '60's.

Where was that? I used to work at one of the last A&W drive-ins in Canada, up
until January 1990. (He went bankrupt in April, taking down the 2nd & 3rd last
A&W drive-ins in Canada with him. . . *sigh*)
That was fun! I used to take orders from cars(who, as you note, turned their
headlights on when ready), from our little dining area, and over the telephone,
then I'd also be cooking the orders(since we had so many missed shifts it
wasn't funny! (&, since I was there from open to close 6 days a week(not a
manager, just a cook/carhop!) it fell on me to fill the gaps where our
other(teen) staff had not showed up(as scheduled) to fill. . .
It was fun! the BEST food!!!! (& every Saturday morning we'd make our own
rootbeer by hand (now they have the big tanks delivered by the pop company...
*sigh*)
My little shtick was to try and sell the Animal Burger (a Teen burger with
SEVEN 1/4 pound patties, SEVEN slices of cheese, SEVEN pieces of bacon, plus
lettuce, tomato, onion, and dressings!) (YUM!!!!)
and my favourite treat was A&W rootbeer milkshakes! (made by squirting the
straight rootbeer SYRUP into the glass of milkshake mix then mixing it under
the m/s blender wand. . .! Ahh, those were the days, my friends. . . I thought
they'd never end. . .
