The morning of the Solstice arrives with sunshine, warmth, and a light
pleasing breeze that is fresh with the scent of the sea. At the Enchanted
Forest Winery, a gathering of Cuddlers begins to arrive. As a few gather by the
front stairs, the doors open inwards and reveal a smiling Dave du Lac. Welcome
all of you. I am so pleased that you would come. Your being here fills me with
overflowing happiness. Please come in. I mean this truly, when I say, my home
is yours.
As we enter we notice that the floor is a dark hardwood floor, very smooth and
highly polished. It is a perfect floor for dancing. In fact, an artfully
concealed state of the art stereo can play hours of uninterrupted music. An
intricate network of speaker are set up in inconspicious places, both inside
and outside. With the press of buttons, the speaker may be turned on, and off.
And yes, the ability to 奏urn it up' will be explored! On the immediate left is
a long deep closets for coats in the winter. To the immediate right is a
winding staircase, leading up, and down. Along the left side wall is a huge
fireplace. It is 20' long! Dave says: 選 just love a roaring fire! I know my
dear friend Old Grey Wolf does, too! I have some nice soft rugs we can toss
down and watch the flames dance, whenever you would like.
Next to the fireplace are french doors which open onto the deck. The are open
now letting in the delicate aroma of the vineyard, blossoms, grapes and herbs.
Right next to doors is a lice large powder room. Across from that is a 10 foot
wall to ceiling china cabinet, with services enough to seat all the Cuddle
friends and their guests.
The kitchen is huge. 10 foot by 20 foot. It has two stokes and oven,
refrigerators and freezers and a well stocked pantry. Fine aromas waft from the
kitchen holding the promise for fine and festive food.
On the floor is a huge oval banquet table and chairs for all. Sunshine from
the bay window bathes the table. There are fresh flowers and long tapers on the
table to add to the charm.
From the ceiling hang two chandeliers that use candles for lighting.

The Second Floor

The staircase leads us to the second floor. The floors are oak parquet. Area
rugs will help to keep feet from getting chilly on the wood floors.
The first room is the octagon bedroom. This is the V.I.P. bedroom. It is
suitable for any Cuddleland V.I.P.. (that means all of you!) It has3 windows
overlooking the sea, and the shores of Cuddleland. The Lighthouse is visible,
standing proud and strong. A savior for sailors. Each of the 8 walls has a
painting. (What are they? Come and see for yourself.)
There are 4 more bedrooms on the floor. Three of these have fireplaces. Mr.
and Mrs. Old grey Wolf are checked into one of these for the week.
Near the middle of the floor, is a large bathroom. It has the lavatory, shower
and a sunken hot tub/spa with a never ending supply of scented bubbly delights.
There are little candles to offer a soft glow. Perfect for relaxing or
romancing.
In the far corner is a library. The walls are lined with barrister style
bookshelves. The sample of reading seems endless. Surely, of the thousands of
books kept here, there is one that you will enjoy. A stereo with artfully
mounted speakers is available. It plays natures sounds and soft jazz. Built
into the center wall is a fireplace with a never ending flame. This fireplace
is shared by the adjoining bedroom. Each of the bedrooms has at least one
window. Special paintings make each bedroom a different theme room, as does the
decor. What is the theme? Perhaps you will have to stay to find out.
One constant in all the rooms is the big deep soft king size bed with feather
down comforters.
Another is the iced wine carriers, awaiting your favorite request.

The Third Floor

The attic stands high and dark. It has some windows looking out over the sea,
and the vineyard. What is kept up in the attic? Toys of course! Games, mystery
chests, and of course empty wine bottles.
The octagon spire has a room, too. This is the Princess Bedroom. The bed is
queen sized. It is a warm comfortable room. It is decorated with teddy bears,
rabbits, squirrels, wolves, cats, dogs, lions, jaguars, a pooh, whales, and a
whole assortment of beanies. In fact, if you look close, there is a replica of
each cuddle character. There are small picture of characters from many of the
fanciful childhood movie on each odd wall. On each even wall? A window
overlooking Cuddleland. There are books on the night stand. They are the books
filled with stories of young girls. The vanity has a series of combs and
brushes made of engraved and colored enamel. Light cache rests in the drawers
of the dresser. On the night stand is a book. It is a diary, and it is empty.
It is a room diary. I hope that when a Princess comes to the bed and breakfast,
and spends a night, she will write her dreams and thoughts. Creativity is more
precious than gold and gems.

The Fourth Floor

There is only one room tp the fourth floor. It is the fourth floor of the
spire. To get there, one must use the tight spiral staircase. The room itself
is rather small. It has a few comfortable chairs, and a thick shag rug. The
only heat will come from a small wood burning stove. This is a reading and
writing room. A room of inspiration, peace, tranquility for the fancy of the
mind. There is writing material, pens and pencils, and small folding tables to
write on. The striking characteristic is the two, complete wall windows. One
overlooks the sea. The other looks out to Cuddleland. What a beautiful sight.
Camelot still lives here! All the beauty and splendor. The vibrance and the
passion and the caring for people. This winery has many pictures and paintings,
yet this room has only one. The inspiration in this room, comes from that is
within you. The lone picture here is that of the Cuddlers Gallery that Sir Jon
has been so kind to create and maintain. Yet it has had magic added, because
every Cuddler that has ever come through is in the picture.

The Spire

Friends, I caution all of you. This room is not meant for most of us. This is
a room of powerful magic. This room has been built for the special Cuddlers
that possess magic and can walk in peace and fear no harm from it. For
Locksley, and Racheli our Gummi Bear Witch. For our CyberTiger and for the
snuggle faerie, The Good Witch, and the Green Witch, and all those who have
called the Coven House home. I have stocked it with herbs, books, candles and
wine. With gold, silver, crystals, talismans, statues, and everything that
would please our makers of magic.
Friends I may visit on occasion, and you certainly may at any time you would
like, but be careful, the spirits are kind to those who understand, but are
notional. Take care!

The Basement is a working winery. Filled with distillers, wine barrels, and
everything to make a fine wine for fine friends!

I will always drink to the Midsummer! But you'll most likely find me
playing out in the forest. Just leave me a bottle at the edge of the
vinyard.

Wonderful friend Dave, a truly grand home you have made for yourself. I
gathered some oak branches, acorns and other items and carved them to represent
the god Bacchus with a flagon of wine that is spilling out. I hope you enjoy it
in your new home.

so. Cultured, refined, experienced, all that you know.
Join me at the buffet tables and let's pour till they want no more! Oh, by the

Galahad gazes at the magnificent structure that Dave Du Lac has
erected and his mind drifts back some years to when a kind and gentle
blind man wandered into the meadow. Truth be told, this kind man had
a special computer that let him become a true Cuddler. But that's a
different story indeed. So, as he gazes at the newest addition to the
Land, Galahad meanders towards the doors, knowing that he will be able
to find a glass of Cabernet Souvignon and a dark corner, and watch as
his new friends meet to talk and play.

Thanks, Dave. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sir Galahad,
The tales of your deeds (and escapades) lives well in the history of
Cuddleland. Approval from someone such as you is phenominal. The winery was
built for all the Cuddle friends, and a place for me to make wine and chocolate
to share. A glass of cabernet? Surely a bottle. Perhaps I can entice you with a
bottle of my favorite, Chateauneuf du Pape. The drinking of strong red wine
makes for the telling of tales. I would love to listen if you want to spin
some.

Dear Dave:

What a wonderful winery you have constructed! As I walk in awe through the
lovingly-created rooms, I feel almost as if I am at home here. Listening to
the soft classical music spilling out of the hidden speakers, smelling the
wonderful tangy-sweet aroma of crushed grapes warming in the sun, it's almost
like Heaven.

This will be a wonderful place to stay, to visit, and I do believe I'll have to
be pried away from the premises if I am ever to get anything done...Thank you
for the momentary respite from the Work and School Monstas that have been
chasing me! <SLB lifts her glass of zinfandel> Cheers for all you have done,

>Dave du Lac

"Sir David, congratulations on the completion of your magnificent new
home, winery and vineyards!" Lady Kitt smiles appreciatively at the
end of the tour. Reaching into a deep pocket in her skirt she pulls
out a charmingly wrapped small box and hands it to the knight of
justice turned vintner. "This is for you, Dave. A sort of
winery/house warming present," she beams.

Dave takes the gift and unwraps it to reveal the kelly green velvet
box inside. He opens the lid and gasps softly at the beautiful
antique nestled in the pale green satin lined box. Lifting the cup
out of the box he lets its silver chain dangle as he holds it closer
to the light to examine it.

It is an exquisitely crafted hammered silver wine taster's cup. The
bowl of the cup is shallow with a flat bottom. On either side of the
rim of the cup are horizontal silver handles decorously designed as
delicate grape leaves, with the silver chain attached to one of the
handles. A taster would slip the chain around his neck so that the
cup could dangle ready for use, thus freeing his hands.

The old fashioned taster's cup was used to evaluate a wine sample in
the dim light of the wine cellar. The bumps hammered into the metal
were intended to refract light through the wine for evaluation
purposes. With the conventional wisdom today being that a clear wine
glass is better for evaluating a barrel sample for color and clarity,
these cups are not used much anymore, and instead are valued as a
keepsake representing their traditional use in the history wine
making.
