I have an extremely high recommendation for Joe Fettingis
(http://jfettingis.homestead.com/color.html) I have taken 2 of his
workshops and have been very inspired and educated. One of the things I
really like about his workshops is I came out of the class with 3 finished
paintings. Look to see if he is offering a workshop in your area.

Anyway, he has been painting for years and he has uses only Arches
watercolor paper. I am starting to lean toward 300 lb paper because it is
less likely to warp as you paint. www.cheapjoes.com offers good prices.

Joe Fettingis uses Maimeriblu Superior Watercolors which Cheap Joes sells,
but Joe F. also sells at a lower price. What I like is the tubes are big
and the colors are concentrated. Each tube is clearly marked as to whether
it is opaque, transparent or semi-transparent

I LOVE the brushes Joe F sells. Email him for recommendations

By the way, if you see a workshop you are interested in, yet can't afford
it, here is an idea: Offer to someone a painting in exchange for paying for
your workshop.
