Some insight on Democratic Socialists of America (from their own web pages and
links): (All links were active November 2000)

Folks want to see who is working against our forefathers' dream of a
Constitutional Republic? Here are the links and the search engine to find out
who is undermining the Constitution which guarantees at least for now in
America:

Constitution of the United States
Article IV, Section 4:
- Republican form of government guaranteed.
Each state to be protected.

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a
Republican form of Government, and shall protect each of them against
Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive
(when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

(We are being invaded and attacked from within. The communists/socialists
are taking over without firing a shot!)

"The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist
organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the
Socialist International. DSA's members are building progressive movements for
social change while establishing an openly socialist presence in American
communities and politics. At the root of our socialism is a profound commitment
to democracy, as means and end. ... We are socialists because we reject an
international economic order sustained by private profit, alienated labor, race
and gender discrimination, environmental destruction, and brutality and violence
in defense of the status quo. We are socialists because we share a vision of a
humane international social order based both on democratic planning and market
mechanisms to achieve equitable distribution of resources..." RESOURCES=WEALTH!!

emphasized the need to reinvigorate efforts to articulate an
agenda for America that engages Congresspeople, activists,
scholars, and citizens in a national debate and struggle for
progressive priorities at the state, local, and national level.
Since then, the Progressive Challenge coalition has conducted
public and congressional briefings, debates and a Congressional
Caucus State of the Union Address, and membership in the 105th
Congress Progressive Caucus stood at 58. This legacy will
continue in the 106th Congress."

Electoral Politics As Tactic — Elections Statement 2000

[...]

The National Political Committee consciously chose not to endorse any major
party presidential candidates. While understanding that for pragmatic reasons
many progressive trade unionists, environmentalists, and African-American and
Latino activists have chosen to support Al Gore, DSA’s elected representatives
believe that Gore, like the now defeated Bill Bradley, represents a centrist,
neo-liberal politics which does not advocate the radical structural reforms —
such as progressive taxation, major defense cuts, and real universal health and
child care — necessary to move national politics in a genuinely democratic
direction...

DSA recognizes that some insurgent politicians representing labor,
environmentalists, gays and lesbians, and communities of color may choose to run
under Democratic auspices, as in the 1988 Jesse Jackson campaign, or operate as
Democrats like Senator Paul Wellstone, and the 59 Democratic members of the
Congressional Progressive Caucus, one-half of whom are Black and Latino and all
of whom possess strong labor backing and operative social democratic politics.

Electoral tactics are only a means for DSA; the building of a powerful
anti-corporate and ultimately socialist movement is the end. Where third party
or non-partisan candidates represent significant social movements DSA locals
have and will continue to build such organizations and support such candidates.
DSA honored independent socialist Congressperson Bernie Sanders of Vermont at
our last convention banquet, and we have always raised significant funds
nationally for his electoral campaigns. At the same time, we were pleased to
have Democratic Congressperson and Progressive Caucus member Bob Filner of San
Diego introduce Sanders at the convention... <END>

(Link active July 11, 2003. Archived locally as: Muravchik)
In "Heaven On Earth, The Rise and Fall of Socialism," Joshua Muravchik
attacks his formidable subject logically by presenting a series of short
biographies of some of the most influential leaders of socialist, communist and
labor movements...
The leaders, their organizations and primary associates are presented in
the context of their overall lives and times. The book covers their political
careers at some length. Almost all the socialist and communist leaders were
middle class and upper class intellectuals rather than workers or the poor.
Communism was always the dictatorship over the workers, not of the workers...
The totalitarian despotism line was adopted right from the beginning -
during the French Revolution - by François-Noël Babeuf. As Friedrich A. Hayek
was to explain almost a century and a half later, Babeuf's goals were so noble
that they justified the most bloody-minded means...
Like Pol Pot towards the end of the communist experiment, Babeuf
believed his noble cause justified - and indeed required - total destruction.
"A regenerator [a revolutionary like Robespierre] - - - must mow down all that
impedes him - - - all that might hinder his safe arrival at the goal he has set
before him - - -."

[...]

The promise of a "new age" heaven on Earth was the heart of that
mystique. For this heresy, Bernstein was immediately attacked - particularly by
Israel Lazerevich Helphand - called "Parvus" - and Rosa Luxemburg - two Eastern
European well educated upper class Jews. Parvus, through Trotsky, developed the
"theory of permanent revolution" that would have its ultimate expression in the
vast slaughter and miseries of Mao's "Cultural Revolution."
That people of Jewish decent played so prominent a role in socialist and
communist theories and movement - in numbers way beyond any relation to the
proportion of Jews in the population - is an obvious and frequently noted
fact...<END>

Democratic Socialists of America Plan to Steal the Minnesota Senate Election
“Send a Student to Minnesota” Program a transparent attempt to import voters to
Minnesota
Author: David Strom
October 14, 2002

PLYMOUTH—A visit to the website of the Democratic Socialists of America
(www.dsausa.org) will treat you to one of the most transparent attempts to steal
an election since the Daley machine ran Chicago politics.

A popup ad on the site invites visitors to contribute to the “send a student to
Minnesota” program—the DSA’s “national electoral project” for the year. The
program is intended to “bring young people to Minnesota” because “Minnesota is
one of the few states that allow same day voter registration.” Wellstone, the
Democratic Socialists explain, “will need a high percentage of young people to
register and vote for him if he is to stave off the campaign that Bush, the
Republicans and the Greens are waging against him.”

“I have heard of dead people voting in elections,” quipped David Strom, “but at
least they were residents of the state in which they voted!” Strom is the
Legislative Director of the Taxpayers League of Minnesota.

The “Send a Student to Minnesota” plan is being funded by the DSA Fund, a
tax-deductible organization supposedly prohibited from politicking.

“This is a transparent attempt to steal this election by using Minnesota’s
liberal election laws to register out-of-state students to vote for Wellstone.

“What a novel strategy—if you can’t win with eligible voters, import some from
states where their votes aren’t needed. Plans like this remind us that
‘democratic’ and ‘socialist’ should never be used in the same sentence,” Strom
added.

“Do Paul Wellstone and the Democrat party approve of this plan to steal the
election? Do they think it is appropriate for the Democratic Socialists to use
tax-deductible funds to commit election fraud? To preserve the integrity of the
election, Wellstone should disavow the socialists and ask that this program be
investigated,” Strom asked.

“This is one more reason why we need stringent voter fraud laws, including
requiring picture IDS to vote,” Strom concluded.

The Taxpayers League is Minnesota’s largest taxpayers advocacy organization.

Send A Student To Minnesota!
DSA’s national electoral project this year is the Minnesota Senate Election.
Together with YDS, DSA’s Youth Section, we are mobilizing to bring young people
to Minnesota. Minnesota is one of the few states that allow same day voter
registration. We will therefore focus our energy on registering young
Minnesotans. Wellstone will need a high percentage of young people to register
and vote for him... <END>

Blum Associate's Link to China
Hinders Plans to Convert Base
SHANGHAI, China -- Sen. Dianne Feinstein has called for a national-security
review of a Chinese company's controversial plan to take over a closed U.S.
military base in California. But if she wants to learn more about the deal, she
might ask her husband, Richard Blum.

The managing director of an investment partnership that Mr. Blum established is
a consultant to a unit of China Ocean Shipping Co., or Cosco, the state-owned
Chinese company that has won the rights to lease and redevelop the 145-acre Long
Beach Naval Station, according to Cosco. The project has drawn intense scrutiny
amid signs Beijing may have tried to buy its way into U.S. politics last year.
Sen. Feinstein has said she was one of the members of Congress warned by the
Federal Bureau of Investigation that China might try to influence the lawmakers
through improper donations.

Last week, Sen. Feinstein and her Democratic colleague from California, Sen.
Barbara Boxer, urged national security advisor Samuel Berger and Secretary of
Defense William Cohen to clear the air over the Long Beach project so the port's
conversion -- which they said would create between 900 and 1,600 jobs and about
$116 million in local wages -- can go ahead. "We would like to know if you feel
there are any security reasons that this planned reuse should not occur," the
senators wrote.

There is no evidence Ms. Feinstein's merchant-banker husband played a role in
helping Cosco win the Long Beach deal. But the managing director of Mr. Blum's
investment firm, Newbridge Capital Ltd., acts as a consultant to Cosco Hong Kong
Holdings Ltd., a main Cosco subsidiary, Cosco said Tuesday... <END>

In 1997 dozens of progressive organizations have joined forces with the
Congressional Progressive Caucus to launch a dialogue aimed at building the
progressive voice in American politics. This effort, called The Progressive
Challenge, works to encourage programs that build economic security for all,
reverse entrenched discrimination, achieve a sustainable use of both human and
environmental resources, and build a society that values and embraces all its
members. A centerpiece of this effort has been the drafting of the following
8-point Fairness Agenda for America.

(Archived locally as: DSApcAgenda)
* The Fairness Agenda for America
* The Fairness Agenda is based on seven principles:

Dignified Work
Environmental Justice
Economic Redistribution
Democratic Participation
Community Empowerment
Global Non-Violence
Social Justice

1. Enact a Fairness Budget for America
America's abundant resources must be used to build a decent society. We propose
cutting military spending and corporate giveaways and reinstating progressive
taxation, while reducing revenues to invest in human resources, such as schools
and health clinics, and in infrastructure, such as mass transit.
2. Ensure Jobs, Living Wages, Benefits & Worker Rights for All
Our nation depends on a vigorous, creative, and innovative workforce that is
assured basic rights. We propose government job creation in areas of high
unemployment, laws requiring profitable companies to compensate workers and
communities affected by job cuts, elimination of tax breaks for companies that
provide excessive executive compensation, and stronger protections against labor
rights violations and all forms of discrimination.
3. Fight for Equality for All
Despite recent progress, widespread discrimination, wage gaps by sex and race,
and de facto segregation still exist. Two means of addressing these problems
include sufficient funding for agencies that administer anti-discrimination laws
and reinforcing affirmative action, while exploring the integration of
class-based criteria into such programs.
4. Promote a Just and Sustainable Global Economy
Free trade agreements and World Bank/IMF structural adjustment programs (SAPs)
have increased inequalities at home and abroad. We propose an international
dialogue to develop a an alternative trade and development initiative that
encompasses the protection of worker and women's rights, enviromental standards,
and food security, and tackles the immigration and the need to reduce
inequalities.
5. Support Demilitarization, Human Rights & a New Internationalism
We propose: cutting the defense budget; negotiating with Russia to eliminate
nuclear weapons; shifting R&D priorities toward pressing domestic needs;
stopping NATO expansion; ending subsidies for arms exporters; banning covert
operations; shifting from unilateral military, aid, and peacekeeping missions
abroad to multilateral responses; and promoting real human rights abroad, which
include economic, social, and cultural rights.
6. Guarantee Sustainable Communities & Environmental Justice
The Federal government has given states and localities more responsibilities
without more power or money. We propose: distribution of more no-strings Federal
funds, especially to poor communities; revisions in trade agreements to allow
communities to enact strong environmental and labor laws; and retargetting
Federal insurance, subsidies, and loans for community development. On
environmental justice, we propose: promoting the right to a clean environment
and replacing subsidies for polluters with subsidies for ecologically sound
products and services.
7. Provide Adequate Social Investment
We propose: preserving social security and protecting it from privatization;
remaking economic security structures to address the needs of the poor;
expanding Medicare eligibility to people of all ages and income; creating a bill
of rights to protect health care consumers; increasing funds for low-income
housing assistance; and providing adequate funds for quality public education.
8. Get Private Money out of Politics
Public outrage is increasing over the abuse of loopholes, systematic influence
peddling, and political favors granted to special interests. We support
initiatives to limit campaign spending, prohibit private campaign contributions
to candidates, eliminate the need for fundraising, provide a financially level
playing field, and tighten loopholes.

BALANCE OF POWER
Pelosi leader of 'Progressive Caucus'
Dems' likely top House official part of powerful, socialist-linked bloc

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Posted: November 11, 2002
1:00 a.m. Eastern

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the likely new minority leader in the House of
Representatives, serves on the executive committee of the socialist-leaning
Progressive Caucus, a bloc of about 60 votes or nearly 30 percent of the
minority vote in the lower chamber.

Until 1999, the website of the Progressive Caucus was hosted by the Democratic
Socialists of America. Following an expose of the link between the two
organizations in WorldNetDaily, the Progressive Caucus established its own
website under the auspices of Congress. Another officer of the Progressive
Caucus, and one of its guiding lights, is avowed socialist Rep. Bernie Sanders,
the Vermont independent.

The Democratic Socialists of America's chief organizing goal is to work within
the Democratic Party and remove the stigma attached to "socialism" in the eyes
of most Americans.

"Stress our Democratic Party strategy and electoral work," explains an
organizing document of the DSA. "The Democratic Party is something the public
understands, and association with it takes the edge off. Stressing our
Democratic Party work will establish some distance from the radical subculture
and help integrate you to the milieu of the young liberals."

Nevertheless, the goal of the Democratic Socialists of America has never been
deeply hidden. Prior to the cleanup of its website in 1999, the DSA included a
song list featuring "The Internationale," the worldwide anthem of communism and
socialism. Another song on the site was "Red Revolution" sung to the tune of
"Red Robin." The lyrics went: "When the Red Revolution brings its solution
along, along, there'll be no more lootin' when we start shootin' that Wall
Street throng. ..." Another song removed after WorldNetDaily's expose was "Are
You Sleeping, Bourgeoisie?" The lyrics went: "Are you sleeping? Are you
sleeping? Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie. And when the revolution comes, We'll kill
you all with knives and guns, Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie."

In the last three years, the Progressive Caucus has been careful to moderate its
image for mainstream consumption.... <END>

U.S. Communists Partying with Democratic Party.
(Source: WorldNetDaily™)
Red? U.S.A. - WorldNetDaily™ has an article exposing the info that the Communist
Party USA is throwing its weight in with the Democratic Party in an attempt to
remove the Republicans, chiefly President Bush, from office. Typically, the
Communist Party USA runs their own candidates for the Presidency and Congress,
but now they've got it in their heads that they can work within the Democratic
Party to get their socialist agendas passed.

The chairwoman of the CPUSA, Joelle Fishman, had this to say:

"It will take an extraordinary united all-people's front with a movement on the
ground to defeat the Bush right-wing agenda in 2004. It can be done with the
combination of the labor vote, the women's vote and African-American and Latino
vote, combined with the youth vote, the peace vote, the environmental vote, the
senior vote, the farm vote, etc., all of whom are pledged to work as they never
have before."

[...]

According to the article their favorite Democratic candidate is Dennis Kucinich
who co-chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group with past ties to
the Democratic Socialists of America.

Of the Democratic Socialists of America, WorldNetDaily™ writes:

"The Democratic Socialists of America's chief organizing goal is to work within
the Democratic Party and remove the stigma attached to 'socialism' in the eyes
of most Americans... Nevertheless, the goal of the Democratic Socialists of
America has never been deeply hidden. Prior to the cleanup of its website in

The Inter-Factional
Written at the end of the Summer 1985 DSA Youth Conference after endless
nitpicking over a re-draft of the YS's statement of principles, "Which Way
America".

To the tune of The Internationale

Arise, ye prisoners of group process
Arise, correctors of poor verse.
For just as we reach a consensus,
Still "better" words are birthed,
No more facilitators bind us,
No motions will be called
The text shall rise in new rephrasements,
It was all rot, it shall be awed.

Chorus

'Tis the final conflict
Let each stand by her phrase
The International Working Draft
Shall reach the human race
(repeat chorus)

Some dream of liberal coalition,
Decry the wreckage of the earth.
Each Caucus thunders condemnation.
Priorities are reversed!
One day the printer's ink will bind us,
Red and Greens, no more will stall.
"Which Way A-mer-i-ca" shall triumph,
It was all rot, it shall be awed
(Chorus)

Communism, Marxism, Scientific Socialism
Theory: Marx outlined a "dialectical materialist" theory of history postulating
that the nature of the technological and economic system of each society
determines the power relations within that society, dividing society between
those who own and control the means of production and those who are exploited.

...Social democratic reforms in the short-term, towards the replacement of
capitalism (the private ownership of means of production) with "social
ownership" (socialism). The democratic advancement of the masses' interests
replaces the "dictatorship" of bourgeois democracy with the "dictatorship" of
the working class under socialism. Finally, the idea of ownership itself will
disappear, as will all vestiges of class divisions, and therefore the need for a
State will disappear, which is the stage of communism. [Another summary of
Marxism]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marxist-Leninism, Bolshevism, Communism
Theory: Since workers can only achieve trade-union consciousness , they must be
led by a vanguard party of Marxist-Leninist revolutionaries. This party must be
governed by military discipline, and "democratic centralism" : party-membership
is tightly controlled and all members must keep party discipline, not
contradicting the party-line in public, but only through internal "democratic"
debate. The party newspaper plays a central role. The party relies heavily on
front-organizations, ostensibly independent but actually controlled by the Party

Praxis: Usually dated from the USSR's founding of the (3rd) Communist
International, 1920-1956. In the U.S.: Communist Party USA (CPUSA),
1920-present.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trotskyism
Praxis: Leon Trotsky, a Bolshevik leader and factional opponent of Stalin,
exiled from Russia in 1929 for his advocacy of more power to industrial worker
organizations against the Stalinist party machine. Murdered by a Stalinist
assassin in Mexico in 1940. As a movement, associated with Trotsky's founding of
the "Fourth International", 1938-present. In the US, Trotskyism was originally
associated with the Socialist Worker's Party (SWP or "Swoops"), 1940-present.
Some assert that in the late 1970s the SWP became "Castroists." Today Trotskyism
is more vividly represented by the Spartacist League ("the Sparts"), the
Workers' League and the International Socialist Organization.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maoism
Theory: China should lead a united, revolutionary Third World against Soviet and
American imperialism. Peasants can be the backbone of "proletarian" revolution
if led by a Communist Party. Once in power Communists must engage in constant
struggle ("Cultural Revolution") against the feudal and bourgeois elements
entrenched in the socialist State. Continuous group criticism and self-criticism
by party cadres is a key form of ideological purification.

Praxis: In the US: the tiny Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) - following the
immortal teachings of Marx-Lenin-MaoTseTung-Bob Avakian thought - the Maoist
International Movement, the Committee to Support the Revolution in Peru, and the
Progressive Labor Party (PLP).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Democratic Marxism
Theory: The State as a relatively autonomous "contestable terrain" for the
organized, self-conscious constituencies of the working class, through an open,
inclusive political party (a left Democratic Party or third party) and a radical
labor movement. Socialists organize a coalition of the sinking bottom third and
the sliding middle third of America (the bulk of the poor and the working middle
class) against the wealthy and corporations; central, necessary role for
organized labor. Influenced by Italian Marxist Antonio Gramsci; socialists
struggle to wrest ideological hegemony away from the ruling class, and gain
hegemony for radical ideology. The leading exponent in the U.S. has been Michael
Harrington. Also well described in the pamphlet "Toward a Democratic Socialism:
Theory, Strategy, and Vision" (1991) by Joseph Schwartz, member of the DSA
National Political Committee.

Praxis: In the U.S., represented in the Democratic Socialists of America, the
Socialist Party USA, Committees of Correspondence, and Solidarity.

<END of Leftist Lingo>

Now for more proof Socialism is just a transitory stage to a Communist State and
is achieved incrementally:

(The socialists pulled the link before I got into the habit of locally archiving

The stimulus for writing this essay came out of the ongoing effort within the
left to reconstitute a new vision of socialism. To date, I find a healthy
openness to new ways of thinking about the relation of democracy to the
socialist project, and a renewed committment to struggle "in the long haul".
However, except for the attempts at scientific utopias [1] in the Green and
futurist literature, there is little in the new declarations of socialists [2]
that excites the imagination. This short-coming will surely be a handicap in
attracting youth. We are not being as "radical as reality itself", to borrow a
phrase from Lenin. [3] The ecological question is still being relegated to a
laundry list of needs and demands, instead of being at the heart of our vision.
And, in the apparent desire to avoid alienating potential recruits, many
marxists/ socialists are avoiding the "C" word (Communism) like the plague.

Let us recall for a moment Marx and Engels' concept of socialism as the lower
stage of communism and, thus, a transition between capitalism and the higher
stage of communism..... <end>

potential recruits, many marxists/ socialists are avoiding the "C" word

The Trotskyist Manifesto

7 For a revolutionary communist international

The working class needs a revolutionary party in order to establish the
dictatorship of the proletariat. ... Centralised discipline is an essential
means of concentrating all the force of the revolutionary vanguard on the
bourgeoisie and its state. It renders each action of the party more effective.
Discipline can be a life and death question when carrying on work in conditions
of illegality... A genuine revolutionary party exercises a strong influence on
the vanguard of the class. It is composed of communist cadres, has a sizeable
national implantation in the advanced sectors of the proletariat, and is able to
organise mass struggles. In revolutionary and pre-revolutionary situations the
party must develop into a mass party in order to organise the masses for the
seizure of power...

A beginner's guide to Marxism

The Communist Manifesto today

1998 marked the 150th anniversary of the Communist Manifesto. Issued on the eve
of Europe’s first co-ordinated wave of revolutionary struggles it remains an
unparalleled exposition of the theory and practice of scientific socialism,
writes Colin Lloyd

Why we need a revolutionary party

In February1917 the workers, soldiers, sailors and peasants of Russia revolted
against the slaughter of the First World War and the tyrannical regime of Tsar
Nicholas II. The workers, soldiers and sailors in the main cities organised
themselves, spontaneously, in workers’ councils.

Russia 1905: a dress rehearsal for 1917

Paul Morris looks at the Russian Revolution of 1905, the great “dress rehearsal”
for the 1917 Revolution

Russia: how the revolution was won in 1917

Kuldip Sandhu explains how and why the Bolsheviks were able to lead the first
successful workers' revolution in October 1917.

Lenin's last struggle

Kate Foster explains how Lenin fought the rise of Stalin and the rise of the
Soviet bureaucracy

The theory of permanent revolution

Globalisation strangles the Third World - but how can the working class of the
world’s poorest countries come to the head of the struggle against it? Colin
Lloyd explains the theory of permanent revolution.

Marxist theory of political economy

Marxist political economy is “a science dealing with the developing historical
systems of social production”, especially the capitalist system.
The struggle over surplus value makes class and class struggle inevitable under
capitalism: they can’t be abolished without abolishing the profit system itself.

Marxist philosophy

Materialism asserts the existence of the material world before all thinking
beings. Marxism claims its methodology is scientific and applies it to the
revolutionary liberation of the working class and all the oppressed.

Transition to communism

Capitalism creates the force, the working class, which is itself able to
overthrow capitalism and build socialism. In the transition to a new society the
capitalist state has to be smashed and a new form of state, a workers’ state,
must be established. When the transition is completed society will no longer
need a political force, a state of any sort, to organise production and
distribution.

Marxism and the family

The family is fundamental to capitalism and plays a specific role for the
capitalists. The family is the material basis for the social oppression of
women, lesbians and gay men and youth.

Is there any doubt about the mindset of the political LEFT?

Here is Gus Hall of the Communist party USA endorsing Clinton-Gore in an earlier
campaign:

Gus Hall backs Clinton-Gore
Not surprisingly, the most fervent support for Clinton and the Democratic Party
comes from the remnants of the old-line Stalinists in the Communist Party USA.
Not only are Gus Hall & Co. backing Clinton, but they are denouncing any
independent or third party campaign which threatens to damage Clinton's
reelection prospects.

What is the Soviet Union and where is it going?
Chapter 3
SOCIALISM AND THE STATE

The Transitional Regime

Capitalism prepared the conditions and forces for a social revolution:
technique, science and the proletariat. The communist structure cannot, however,
immediately replace the bourgeois society. The material and cultural inheritance
from the past is wholly inadequate for that. In its first steps the workers'
state cannot yet permit everyone to work "according to his abilities"—that is,
as much as he can and wishes to—nor can it reward everyone "according to his
needs", regardless of the work he does. In order to increase the productive
forces, it is necessary to resort to the customary norms of wage payment—that
is, to the distribution of life's goods in proportion to the quantity and
quality of individual labor.

Marx named this first stage of the new society "the lowest stage of communism",
in distinction from the highest, where together with the last phantoms of want
material inequality will disappear. In this sense socialism and communism are
frequently contrasted as the lower and higher stages of the new society. "We
have not yet, of course, complete communism," reads the present official Soviet
doctrine, "but we have already achieved socialism—that is, the lowest stage of
communism."....
