Vatican says aliens could exist
By David Willey
BBC News, Rome

Father Funes says the universe is so vast that other life forms may
exist
The Pope's chief astronomer says that life on Mars cannot be ruled
out.

Writing in the Vatican newspaper, the astronomer, Father Gabriel
Funes, said intelligent beings created by God could exist in outer
space.

Father Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory near Rome, is a
respected scientist who collaborates with universities around the
world.

The search for forms of extraterrestrial life, he says, does not
contradict belief in God.

The official Vatican newspaper headlines his article 'Aliens Are My
Brother'.

'Free from sin'

Just as there are multiple forms of life on earth, so there could
exist intelligent beings in outer space created by God. And some
aliens could even be free from original sin, he speculates.

Asked about the Catholic Church's condemnation four centuries ago of
the Italian astronomer and physicist, Galileo, Father Funes
diplomatically says mistakes were made, but it is time to turn the
page and look towards the future.

Science and religion need each other, and many astronomers believe in
God, he assures readers.

To strengthen its scientific credentials, the Vatican is organising a
conference next year to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of the
author of the Origin of Species, Charles Darwin.

I agree. Big deal.
The Vatican has a history of claiming beings exist without any evidence
to back it up.

Their entire premise for existence is based upon a nonexistant being

I think this might be a step towards other organizations telling
people that it's OK to investigate the idea of extraterrestrial beings
on other planets or space aliens visiting planet Earth. France has
made public their UFO files. England just did the same. I think the
evidence for such ideas as UFOs is robust. If there is anything to it,
it is one of the most important discovers made by humankind.

And in the article, it stressed that Intelligent life on Mars can't be

since 1984.

True, but I get the feeling they have some inside information on the
existence of aliens, and I'm not talking about the bible....

It's not just the Vatican. There are a library of logical, well
reasoned, scientifically based books on the topic of UFOs, Space
Aliens, and the possiblity of extra terrestrials visiting the planet
today. Ever heard of Stanton T. Friedman?

You bet. Whenever the History Channel wants someone old and fuzzy
to speak impressively about all the "evidence" for extraterrestrial
visitation, they roll Stan onto the stage and pull his string.

The Jupiter Effect, written by two otherwise sensible astronomers in
1974, predicted dreadful effects on our planet as a result of a March 10,

noticed. One of the authors reported that some earthquakes which had
occurred in 1980 had been the "premature result of The Jupiter Effect,"

Stanton is logical, Stanton is well studied and knows what he is
talking about. Do you even read the UFO literature? How can you have
an opinion if you don't follow the subject? Michael Shermer, for
example, is not a skeptic. He's a debunker because he doesn't do the
research he needs to.

aliens were talking to him. As expected, he was shirtless.
