For the record.....
The above "collector's mentality" rant has not been my experience in
dealing with the JFK "collector" from whom I obtained many of the rare
items on my thread-starting list.
Perhaps some "collectors" are of the above-stated mentality. I really
don't know and cannot say. But I've dealt with one collector in
particular who has been very gracious and generous in sharing his
collection of hard-to-find JFK-related items on video. (Plus a few
other collectors from whom I've obtained just one item each.)
Never have I encountered the "Look what I have that you can't"
mentality.
I'll also add here (for the record) that the main collector I've dealt
with in the past has been square-dealing LEGAL-wise too. That is, it's
illegal to SELL such copyrighted material for cash; but it's not
illegal for people to TRADE such items between one another. As long as
a cash transaction does not occur, it's not an illegal transaction.
(At least that's my understanding of this "collectors" scenario.)
But (to quote John F. Kennedy in a way) -- Since Mr. Foster didn't
mention ME by name in his curt post above, I'll assume he was
referring to some of the other "collectors" out there in the world,
and not to me specifically. ;)
