Ok, I know this is a little off topic but I'm sure there are a lot of
assassination buffs in here who have read about other conspiracy theories.
Is there any evidence of a conspiracy in the case of Wallace? I remember
reading somewhere (High Treason?) that Bremer only fired five shots yet more
bullets were recovered at the scene. Supposedly these bullets could not be
matched to his gun. Any opinions? Please post, call, or email me!

The only thing I remember feeling odd about this assassination was how
cleverly the assassin fit the profile of a lone nut assassin. I think
this case just proved to me that the possibility of someone along the
lines of who many people have long believe Lee Oswald to have been,
could well have walked out his door one day and saught to shoot his name
into history. Why Wallace, I do not know. I prefer to look at the
dramatic personal change that Wallace underwent in his rehabilitation.
I think that human drama, this seldom told story of George Wallace
reborn is itself assurance of Dr. King's dream and greatest longing for
mankind. It is a great thing that Wallace could choose to change sides
after such an ordeal.

Another odd thing is how much Nixon's people seemed to know about Bremer
right away.

From "Abuse of Power" by Stanley Kutler, pg. 38:

QUOTE:

May 15, 1972: The President and Colson, 9:23-9:24 PM, White House Telephone

President Nixon: Is he a left winger, right winger?

Colson: Well, he's going to be a left winger by the time we get through, I think.

President Nixon: Good. Keep at that, keep at that.

Colson: Yeah. I just wish that, God, that I'd thought sooner about planting a little literature
out there [in Bremer's Milwaukee apartment].

President Nixon: [Laughs]

Colson: It may be a little late, although I've got one source that maybe -

President Nixon: Good.

Colson: - you could think about that. I mean, if they found it near his apartment that would be
helpful.

Kinda makes you wonder about all the "commie literature" found amongst LHO's belongings, eh?

Or the FPCC flyers "found" near Professor Reissman's place in New Orleans maybe?

And young folks today wonder why we called him "Tricky Dick". Anyone who thinks that Clinton's
crimes are comparable to ole' Tricky's, need to read this book.

There are other gems I could post, such as the one where Tricky discusses breaking into the national
archives. Whatta great statesman he was!

Neighbors of Bremer's told of two men coming to Bremer's aprtment just after the shooting and entering
the aprtment with a large cardborad box. The men left son afterward with the box . Soon after that
the FBI made its first official sercah of Bremer's aprtment.

LAurel police found two more pistols in Bremer's car with ammo. N one has EVER explained how Bremmer, a
bus boy, managed to save the money for his stalking trip ( he was in Montreal stalking Nixon (Walker?)
before latching on to Wallace, the car and gas and three pistols. And no one has explained how he knew
where Wallace would be.

A second Bremmer diary was found in Milwaukee a couple of years after the first was published. It was
found buried next to a railroad track a couple of milesfrom Bremmer's home. It was never published nor
was any official explanation ever offered.

I think it was "Ramparts" which paid fro a linguist analysis of the diary comparing it to LHO's historic
diary. Supposedly they found several similarities On a lark, they compared the diary to E H Hunt's
novels and found similarities there as well. :-| Not sure on that one Have to check through RAmparts
collections-- if you can find one.

The best piece I've read on this case came from Gore Vidal, and is one
his collection about America. Vidal makes the case that E. Howard Hunt,
who testified that he was asked to go to Bremer's apartment after the
assassination attempt, wrote the diary allegedly belonging to Bremer.
Btw, Bremer's brother was an associate of Jerry Owen, the Preacher with
strange connections to the Sirhan case.

Baby I'm amazed. That is truly appalling. So typical one could keep
time by it.

I wish WebTV had cut and paste, because my last message got bumped out
of line a little. I was responding to Nixon's taped conversation, not
the idea that E. Howard Hunt wrote Bremer's diary. I couldn't say.

Looks like a replay of the RFK shooting, with some refinements in the
modus operandi.

Thanks for all the intelligent posts. After reviewing some material on the
case, I came up with these points that hint towards a conspiracy....

* Bremer's gun held five rounds. Wallace's doctors claim he was hit four,
possibly five times. Three bystanders were hit and one bullet was found
in the asphalt. It now looks as if more shots were fired.

* None of the bullets could be positively matched to the gun found at the
scene.

* Bremer's finger and palm prints were not found on the weapon.

* A parafin test conducted by the police indicated Bremer had not fired a
gun.

* Witnesses who testified at the trial could not positively identify Arthur
Bremer as the assassin.

Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Bremer was, of course, filmed shooting Wallace by an ABC cameraman.

Thanks for the correction. You're right, it was Laurence Pierce of CBS.
