I know the image quality sucks. Hopefully, after Christmas this will
improve. The airshow was great. The photos and planes at the Edwards
Open House looked a little bit more interesting. the B-1, B-52 and
all the drones were only on static display this year. I did overhear
some pilots talking about a "heavy lift" exercise taking place on the
range this Wednesday. I also talked to one of the crew members of the
B-52. We talked and talked. He told all kinds of great stories about
the plane and some of their missions. He told me all about the
history. Where they are currently stationed, how many were in use,
what it was like to fly in one and then I asked him a question that
ended our talk. It was a rather simple question, but for some reason
it ended our conversation. He gave a very short brisk answer and
walked away! I simply asked him how close they can fly over Area 51,
and what the "higher ups" say about crossing into that particular
restricted air space. He briskly replied, "I don't know anything
about that!" and walked away!!!

Here is a link to the cool sniper team. They had the best seats at
the show. The rifle was under the green cloth near his feet. I am
guessing he was mainly looking across to the mountains? There were
plenty of armed AF Police walking in the crowd.

Well we know they can't "break the box." I wonder why he got bugged.
If you watched the Red Flag movie, they just show it as a No Fly
zone.

I was outside the Little Alien and saw some guys in green speaking in
a British accent. I was with someone from the UK, so we paid them a
visit. The guys were happy to talk about what they flew. So I said "Do
you still have the Typhoon out at Groom?" The reply was "No it's back
home now." Then the person in charge says "Right, we'll be going
now."

Nellis goes bonkers over security. I was told each base can set their
own security to some extent. There has to be a minimum of course. I've
seen some suspected plain clothes at Nellis, but no way to verify. I
think Nellis is the only show I've been to where they attempt to
enforce the ban on backpacks.

Nellis, in some way like Edwards, is the place to check out the static
displays. Nellis brings out a toy or two from the Petting Zoo. The
intelligence group brings out some Soviet era hardware.
