The image does not appear on the monitor.
Is this the sign of a virus?
If so can anyone offers solutions on how to remove?

No. It's just a li'l inside joke -- an Easter Egg, if you prefer --
from the good folks at Microsoft.

Just like chocolate bunnies you can buy, I suggest you start with the
ears. In a day or two -- less if your family members are REALLY
chocoholics -- that wascally-wabbit will be gone.
HTH.
P.S. How 'bout a nice game of pinball? ;-)

I don't think it can be this type of trick. From what I am told there
is no picture of Bugs Bunny on the Computer Screen. Looking at the
eeggs web site it would seem that the various icons! are visible on
the computer.
That is the only information I have. Not sure what other evidence to
look for. I suppose the saved file will be different in size to a
similar file ie textwise with no instruction present for Bugs to
appear.

Check if the documents format information (or its template) has an entry
in the header or footer field, containing a picture, which might be set
at an unusual line (header: a long way down, footer: a negative number
of lines up). This was once a trick to place "watermarks" below text.
Maybe someone played a prank.

Ah, Information. A good, too valuable theses days, to give it away, just
so, at no cost.

Oh, I'm sorry -- I forgot to type my reply in dripping sarcasm font.
(Or as our dear friend, Bugs would say, "What a maroon!")
