Yesterday morning, I saw some reporting they'd gotten the R3 update.
I'm still waiting, have done *many* OSUs, and I still haven't been
offered the update. In the past, I've always gotten it after a few
tries, certainly by the next day.

I know this update isn't all that thrilling, but....

How many others are still waiting for the update? Have you gotten it
yet RC?

Thx and Regards,

Margaret

I've been looking for it too, but no luck. From what I read there may
be a Home and Business R3, but nothing for Quicken for Windows. I
have one email from Quicken Support that says Quicken 2010 R3 will be
released in late November.

Don

As Margaret knows, I did receive it last week. In my ABOUT QUICKEN, it says
I am running "Quicken 2010 Premier Release R 3".
As it fixed my biggest bug-a-boo (allows overwriting of backups), for me, it
was indeed "thrilling'.
Is it possible it was released to those folks who bitched via the quicken
website??

At any rate, isn't there that manual method to receive fixes assuming it's
posted for that method?

It'll be interesting to see of those who did get it, got the final
R3.

Yes, there's a manual method, but Intuit doesn't usually post the manual
update for a couple weeks after the patch is released via OSU.

Tod (in another msg) pointed to a URL that states "Some customers
mistakenly received notice for Quicken 2010 R3 patch."

I'm glad the patch fixes the inability to overwrite backups, but it
sounded like it requires extra click(s).

Anyway, I'll be eager to get it when the final patch is released.

Margaret

Thanks for pointing to that URL, Tod! I'd also looked for the manual
update, but of course, R3 wasn't there. I was wondering if perhaps the
patch was recalled, as one was some years ago IIRC. :-)

How bizarre! Well, they state "We apologize for any confustion this may
cause, and would like inform you that the patch is not yet available." ; I
assure it they're wrong! It WAS available (maybe 'no longer available' is
more accurate?) ; I'm running it! And yes, it does require one more
keystroke because you either have to allow the overwrite of the existing
backup, or cancel the operation (Again, no choice to have it create a
DIFFERENT backup for the same day like it used to do....)

(I also note that the notice is full of grammatical errors ("confustion"??,
"It has been reported that some customer may have received a notice"...I
must have been that single customer, since that statement sure as hell
doesn't reflect more than one person!). Even that notice sounds rushed
through QA....)

Yes, very bizarre. Sounds like someone goofed and released a "beta"
patch. I do hope Intuit revisits how they've implemented the backup
changes before they release the final patch. (I made a couple posts in
the Q2010 forum over at Q Inner Circle.)

Hi, Margaret.

Nope! Not even a hint of it here, even with 2 or more OSUs just about every
day. The only way I know about R 3 is from messages in this newsgroup.

I do hope it shows up soon - but I'm not in too big a hurry since my HDD
still has room for maybe a hundred more of those 45 MB QDF files. Of
course, at about 3 a day, I may have to start deleting some in a month or
so.

As usual, I'd rather have it RIGHT than to have it QUICK - but BOTH would be
nice! ;^}
