Sadly, in my opinion, R3 adds back the startup sound that I find
annoying and unnecessary. I've sent feedback suggesting that Intuit
make the sound a Startup Preference. I like having the register sounds,
so turning them all of isn't a desirable solution.

Turns out that the Quicken Sounds folder has a bunch of opening sound
files. I changed the name of the qopen.wav file so that it will no
longer be found. But I decided that the qopen_2000.wav sound wasn't so
bad, so I made a copy of that file and named the copy qopen.wav.

Hi, Bernie.

Sounds like (no pun intended! <g> ) you found the perfect solution.
Congratulations! ;<)

A better way would be to manage the sounds through the Control Panel /
Sounds window in Windows.

Yup. I particularly hate the "ca-ching" sound when I enter a
transaction in Q, so I just changed that sound in Control Panel / Sounds.

Margaret

You're right. It's been a long time since I've looked past the Windows
sounds in Control Panel. Doing it through Control Panel is a better way
and simpler too. Thanks for mentioning it. I'm changing the file names
back to the originals and using the Control Panel approach.

In the Control Panel - Sounds - <none> is a choice too if you want
nothing. /Dan
