Hi;

I am not familiar with QuickBooks at all so I hope I can explain the problem
correctly.

QuickBooks 2007 is being used.

Copied all QuickBooks files from old server to new. Kept the same directory
name, mapped to the same drive letter. I left the original files on the old
server as a back-up.

There are only two users.

I remapped the first user's drive to the new server - no problem.

Something tripped up on the second user and it tried to reconnect back to
the old server that was still on-line transferring non-related files.

The second user found the same company files on both the old server and the
new server and the opening screen showed double the number of databases that
there should have been.

When I finally disconnected the second user from the old server everything
looked fine but the only way the second user could access the database was
if the first user was actively using QuickBooks at the time.

Both users used to be able to operate independently on the database.

Is there a way to clear the information where QuickBooks thinks the database
is and re-direct it.

If I'm in the wrong Usenet group, please re-direct me.

Thanks,

Doug Sanders

You should install the database engine on the server, not simply copy files
over. There is a ton of technical literature on the web on how to install QB
in a multiuser environment. QB also comes with detailed instructions on how
this is done.
