April 16,, 2009, Miscosoftware announces the release of WinTar ver3.0,
a simple 32-bit Windows version taball archiver. It is a powerful tool
which allows windows users to create, manage and extract most popular
Unix/Linux like Tarball archive files and windows format archive
files.

There a lot of archive formats on Unix/Linux system that do not be
supported on Windows Operating System, such as tarball, pax, cpio,
shar, ar, mtree and other archive file formats.
When users download these Unix/Linux like archive files from Unix/
Linux system to Windows system, and then want to read or extract them
to local file system.
Or Windows user want to create these format archive files on windows
system and upload them to Unix/Linux system.
Such these requirements maybe difficult on Windows system.

WinTar is a lite Windows version taball archiver that help users to
resolve these problems on Windows system. It is a powerful tool which
allows windows user to create, manage and extract most popular Unix/
Linux like Tarball archive files and other most popular archive
files.
WinTar can create and read several different archive formats,
including most popular tar variants, several cpio formats, and both
BSD and GNU ar variants. All the archive formats and compression
methods that supported by WinTar ver3.0 are listed below:

  1. Read and extract GNU tar, ustar, pax interchange format, cpio,
Mtree, Zip, CAB and ISO9660 formats.
  2. Create ustar, pax interchange format, cpio, shar formats, Mtree,
CAB and Zip archive formats.
  3. Read and write POSIX formats: POSIX-standard formats, including
ustar, pax interchange format, and the POSIX cpio formats.
  4. Supports pax interchange format: Pax interchange format is really
an extended tar format. WinTar eliminates almost all limitations of
historic tar formats and provides a standard method for incorporating
vendor-specific extensions.
  5. Supports 7Z writting and extracting 7Z archive file fomat.
  6. Supports Gzip, Bzip2, Unix compression, LZMA and None compression
methods for archive formats.
  7. Supports creating and extracting Zip and Windows CAB archive
formats, compressed or non-compressed.
  8. Supports creating and extracting single Gzip, Bzip2, Huffman
coding, Unix compress(LZW) and LZMA compression format files.
  9. When reading archive files, WinTar can automatically detect
archive formats and its compression method.

With Modern Windows explorer and Office 2007 style Graphical User
Interface (GUI), WinTar is cool and easy to use.
In ver3.0, WinTar is full integated with windows shell (Windows
explorer) and supplied some convenient tools to manage archive files
on Windows system, e,g. E-mail archives, Extract archive files to
separate folder features.
