Hello,

I am having problems with ghost images on screen. Everything on screen
shows up with a double image just next to real object, e.g. the mouse
pointer is "doubled" the ghost being some 1 mm to the right from the
original object. The double images are very pale and not even visible at
first sight, but the picture in general is somehow "not clear" and after
looking closer to it one can identify the ghost images.
My video card is Creative 3D blaster GeForce2 GTS and monitor is LG 995E
(http://www.lgeus.com/995E.asp)

The ghost images appear regardless of the screen resolution and refresh
frequency, or maybe not in standard VGA mode but at any realist mode for
19" monitor. I have also tried various drivers for the video card both
from Creative and nvidia with no influence. In addition to that I have
tried moving all PCI cards as far away from AGP slot as possible with no
results.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Is it likely that this kind of phenomena
is due to actually faulty hardware, or even worse is this a known
"feature" of LG 995E monitor (or the Creative card)? After all, it was a
rather cheap 19" monitor...

You aren't using a vga switch or extended cable by any chance are you?

Are you using a VGA Extension Cable for your monitor?! The ghosting can be
caused by signal attenuation, the VGA signals are getting weaker the further
they have to travel. Also the cable may not be properly sheilded, and you
are experiencing 'noise' on the cable. A good qualtiy, sheilded, cable could
do the trick.
HTH.

I am using neither extended cable nor VGA switch. Monitor is directly
connected to the video card and I have checked over and over again that
the connector is firmly attached.

I don't have the monitor at hand at this very moment, but I think that
the VGA cable is fixed to the monitor and cannot be removed or changed
without opening the monitor, i.e. would require service. I am slightly
afraid that if the cable is not properly shielded, it would be declared
as a feature of a low end monitor by the manufacturer.

There are no particular sources of electromagnetic interference in the
vicinity of the computer.

Sounds like missing termination. VGA signals need to be terminated on
both ends to a 75 ohms, or the signal bounces causing ghost images.
Cheap monitors might be blurry and have some geometry distortions etc,
but ghost images are too much - even if the manufacturer calls it a
feature.
I suggest you try different monitor or video card to find out where
the problem is. There is propably faulty or missing termination on
either the video card or the monitor.
