Subject: P2B 133FSB Problems
I'm running a PII 350 with it right now w/100FSB (33pci/66agp)
and I changed the jumper settings for the FSB to be at 133 and
when I turn the machine on, the fans come on, but there's nothing
else.  The monitor keeps on saying there no sync output and there's no
HD activity either.  I couldn't even turn the machine off with the
button, I had to turn the power off at the powerbar.

Any ideas as to why it's doing that?  Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you are overlocking the crap out of the AGP bus, PCI bus, memory
and CPU cache.  Try 112 mhz.

One would think that, but on the board itself, the chart indicates
that at 133MHz FSB, it'll give me 33.3MHz PCI speed and I'm assuming
66.6MHz AGP from that, which are the normal speed for those slots.
It's even their board manual as well right on the board.

Strangely enough, when I did try at 112MHz(37.3MHz PCI), the machine
woulnd't even turn on.  I found that quite strange since at 133MHz, it
would at least power up.  What are you thoughts on this?  Thanks in
advance.

The asus board will do 1/4 divider when set to 133 for the pci, but
this doesn't affect the agp because the bx chipset doesn't have
any settings other than 1/1 and 2/3.
The slow downs at 83 are usualy harddrives having a problem
at 41.5 pci speed. Only the faster drives make it.

The speed or quality of the drive is no indication of how it will do
on the 83.3 mhz fsb.

I'm with Hank on that one, i think the quality of the drive does matter.
Also at 133 MHz you should have good quality CAS 2 memory, even then its a
not a sure thing. My FSB runs good at 112, i haven't tried 133 yet because i
have my doubts it'll work.

Well, you're much wiser than I am :-)  I should be happy just being
able to run my box @112FSB, but, but...Anyway, my HD is a Maxtor
DiamondMax 2160 (88455D8), 5200RPM, ATA-33, avg seek <9.7ms, but only
256K cache, ANSI ATA mode compliant PIO mode4/DMA 2 interface and
SMART system compliant.

I did try 133 with the pio/dma at 0/0, but that still didn't help.  Is
this just not good enough of a HD to be able to run my box at 133?
What do you guys think?

I think you need better memory chips.
