Actually, that picture does look somewhat soft. I am finding the same
thing with mine, some shots are very sharp, and others not. I've not
been able to pin down the circumstances, but at first glance it appears
the longer distance shots are the soft ones. I shot a full frame of the
dog and you can see individual hairs standing up....very crisp. I wish
that on the whole, everything was "Crisp" with a capital C, but all
things considered, I am very pleased with the camera for the money. The
colour, as in Amadeus' pic, is terrific, and the white balance
capability of the camera is very good. I've taken indoor shots with and
without the flash where it is difficult to tell which is which.

I have noticed that some of the long distance shots are soft, but most don't
seem soft to me. Must just be me.
