Hello-

I've installed the ".03" patch (went from 4.02 to 4.03) on a Win2K SP1
machine and now Easy CD Creator does not recognize the computer's CD-ROM
drive. It does still recognize the CD-RW drive... Easy CD thinks the
CD-ROM drive is a hard drive. On the "system test", it doesn't allow me to
check the audio extraction speed. Also (more importantly) the "CD Copy"
utility doesn't allow me to select the CD-ROM drive as a source drive.

Has anyone seen this? Any info would be helpful... Thanks... AL

I tried the registry fix in that article. Didn't help my problem.

I can see the drive from Window's Explorer just fine- so I don't think that
was my problem. Easy CD sees the drive- just doesn't think it's a CD-ROM...

I'm going to break down and reinstall...

Thanks for your help.

Well, uninstalling and reinstalling did not work. ECDC still thinks my
CD-ROM drive is not a CD-ROM drive...

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, AL

Try uninstalling the Adaptec software while in safe mode. I've never
been able to get a "clean" uninstall unless I did it that way. By
"clean" I mean that the registry was scrubbed of the info installed
there by Adaptec. Some of the registry keys under the Adaptec section
of the registry identify the drives; if the drive references aren't
removed (because the Adaptec section isn't removed) when software is
reinstalled the keys apparantly are not over written.

Try deleting your CDROM driver from the "System" cp panel. Then reboot
Windows.

Otherwise, go to safe mode, open the same System panel and check that no
CDrom driver is missing, wrong or duplicated.

Good point made below. You might be amazed at how Windows has
duplicated many of the device properties in the device manager. You'll
only see the duplicates if you go there while in safe mode.
