directory spec with wildcards - why was it considered a match

Can anybody explain why directory "20120629-r3.org" was considered a match for the file/directory spec "2010*"? See below for an example output of the "dir" command on my good old Windows XP Pro (SP3) where this peculiar thing happened.

G:\dn.org>dir /ad 2010*
Volume in drive G is 640g-2h-ntfs
Volume Serial Number is 64E0-2E94

Directory of G:\dn.org
