I know you shouldn't have more than one anti-malware programs on your
computer at the same time. But how do you make sure that nothing of the
old software remains? I've done uninstalls and there's still a folder
with that name. I could manually delete it, of course, but is that
enough. And the program I want to uninstall does not have an uninstall
option. I'd have to go to uninstall programs in Windows to remove it.
Would any bits still be lying around to mess up the new installation.

What "anti-malware" left traces? Lots of guys have more than one AV
installed. I have three. AVG, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpywarePro.
Very few AV programs have the ability to catch all bugs. Norton has a
freebee "removal", as some others have too. Without using this
"removal" all traces will not be removed. If you name your AV software
more help can be given.
Have a look here and see if your problem AV is here.

Good luck, jigo.

And use revo uninstall to really kill off any install you want
to get rid of.

jigo, I think it makes more sense using a "Removal" made for and by
the originator of the software, totally free. Third party "trial" and
buy? Well, the link speaks for itself.
