IE8 and mapped drives

I just upgraded from IE7 to IE8 on an XP pro install with all the latest
service packs and
updates, when I try to access a file on a server just after boot I have to
enter my username and password for that share.
The first time I "check marked" the box to remember my password but it
doesn't hold
I have to reenter my username and password every day now. It did not do
this until I upgraded to IE8.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Knowledge Base was no help.

Looks like some intranet site login. Guess OP needs to complain to the
site admin about forcing users to use IE for the site and now IE saying
bie bie.
i'd suggest ffx 3.0 given that it has more extensions supported. latest
is 3.5.1 though :)
