I have just got a new home build HTPC working but now need to tune things up.
The IR remote supplied with the Origen AE S10V case is very flashy but comes with no instructions nor details of its manufacturer. Is there any way of identifying it from the computer. In other words do IR remotes send out their ID?... more »

I'm searching a tool or daemon that send email when a connection to a specified tcp ports happens.
For example when someone connects to tcp 80 http I need to receive an email....
Anyone can help me?

Remember when... Uninstalling programs often meant that you had to
answer cryptic questions about whether certain files should be
uninstalled? The prompt went something like...
"Other programs might not be using these files, would you like to
uninstall them?"
At least in Windows XP, sometimes I get the generic prompt...... more »

How do I build a minimal Linux distro?

Hi everyone, I've been looking into Linux from Scratch for the past few months. I was wondering whether or not that was the most simple way to build a bare-bones distribution of Linux. My goal right now is to just get it to boot into a bash shell. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

tor browser bundle update

Hi, does anybody know how to 'update' my tor browserbundle?
When opening the tor browserbundle I get the message:
"There is a security update available for the Tor Browser Bundle.
Click here to go to the download page"
and now I wonder how to update the bundle after downloading it.
Just copy it over the old install?... more »

i'll get a new pc with a ssd tomorrow and i can't wait to install a fresh debian testing=)
any suggestions about the filesystems, settings, etc to minimize the disc i/o?
btw, what do i have to pay attention to concerning booting in combination with uefi? i only had bios's in the past^^... more »
