Molex to Sata power cable
Hi, I want to add a Sata HD to my Sata compatible system, but I know little about hardware. I found out that a free power cable has a Molex power connector and I found an adapter cable online, that's described as a "5.25" Molex to Sata adapter cable". I was wondering about the 5.25" description: the free cable's Molex... more »

Quick Windows 7 & RAID question
If I'm installing a 3rd party RAID controller card for some other drives on my system (not the system drive) do I still need to install the drivers during a Win7 64 install? Or can I install the OS then add the card and drivers on at a later point?

Micro-ATX mobo's compatible with Zalman TNN-300?
Hi, I have just received a Zalman TNN-300 case I had ordered and I am now looking for a compatible micro-ATX mobo. The list provided by Zalman is outdated (they discontinued TNN-300 some time ago) and I cannot convince local PC hardware vendors to allow me to check cards for compatibility. I would much appreciate suggestions for modern mobos of good quality,... more »

Advice please to choose cpu & chipset
I'm a home/small office user. No games. Some multimedia. Music is important. I haven't bought a PC in years and first of all I'm trying to sort out which processor family I should go for. The chipset is important and I want one that is modern and provides a good range of features like multiple PATA/SATA drives, lots of USB, good... more »

FINALLYFAST.COM!
Those were funny commercials IMO, especially the idiot face who spits while saying "FINALLYFAST.COM!" I am amused by commercials that try to sucker users into believing their Internet service speed is slow because their computer is slow.

New Window 7 build
For the first time in quite a while, I'm assembling a primary desktop strictly to run Win 7 Ultimate (32-bit). I acquired the OS when I was a Technet subscriber and hadn't worked with 64-bit systems much, so 32-bit was my first choice. After reflection, I may eventually go the 64-bit Win 7 Professional route, but that's not on the plate yet.... more »

Hardware problem - RAM or MOBO?
I just built a new machine and have been plagued with crashes. When I first ran MEMTEST on it, everything came out okay. Both sticks in bank 1 & 2 work fine (except for one set of errors when running it for 12 hours), and if they're in 3 & 4 they work fine, but in banks 2 & 4 I get errors. If I try one stick at a time in bank 1 or 2 they look... more »

microsoft.public.windowsxp.gen eral
My XP Pro system won't boot after I installed some applications. It won't boot to safe mode either. (After the Windows boot screen I get shown a "DOS" list of DLLs in System32 and my system hangs at this point.) I heard of various methods to recover XP Pro but I don't want to lose data or applications.... more »
