Why is a gig of DDR $59.00 and a gig of DDR2 only$29.00 at Walmart?
Why is DDR2 cheaper?

Short answer: Supply and demand.

Longer short answer: Less companies make DDR memory now that DDR2 and
DDR3 are being used in new computers. So the DDR prices will be
higher, since there is less of them to go around.

DDR2 prices seems to be on the rise lately. I paid $50 for a pair of
these two months ago, and now they're $80 (G.SKILL 8500 2 x 2 GB):

I actually bought two pair, and I'm glad I did. At the same time, 2 x 1 GB
DDR2 could be had for as little as $22 shipped. Now the price is $34.

Anyone noticed what DDR3 prices are doing?

On price watch I see DDR3 1333 for $31.97 for 2 gig and 1800 is $53.03
for 2 gig.

Hey, hey Boo Boo. Thanks for that, but I was wondering
about the trend-- whether DDR3 prices are still falling or
also on the rise. Usually when I buy something, the price
goes down the next week. Oh, well, it'll be worthless by
the time I am ready to sell it!

It always goes down the next week after you buy.
