Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right group to post this question but I don't
know if such a group exists.
About six month ago I built my own PC using Supermicro mob. I also bought
Matrox G200 (retail version) AGP card and Sony Multiscan 400 PS 19 inch
monitor. So far everything has been working all right, until the last few
days.
The problem is with the monitor, suddenly it goes completely out of focus. I
can still see on the screen outlines of all open windows but everything is
blurred and unreadable.
First I thought that it might be a bug in one of the applications that I'm
using but even after a reboot while I'm watching booting sequence I can see
that all DOS messages are blurred and out of focus.
Usually turning the PC and the monitor off for a while cures the problem
until next time.

I wonder if anybody seen something like that ? I also wonder if is it the
monitor that is at fault or is it the video card ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks - Tom Ross

Thanks for your answer. Today a Sony man came and collected the monitor for
repairs. He gave a replacement for the duration of repairs.
I'm very happy.

Hello Tom,

try to turn the mains plug of your monitor a 180 degree to change the phase
leading wire.
This helped me recently.

Thanks for your suggestion but that's impossible in UK. We got 3 pin plugs
here and you can't turn them.
