****"Thanks for your letter.
Currently, the limitations of Free Version allow Customer to synchronize
no more than 20,000 files per 30-day period. Please notice that free usage
limitations concern analyzed (processed) files, not really copied. During
synchronization the program processes all files (changed, unchanged, new
ones) and counts all files therefore.
You need to wait for some time till the last 30-days file traffic will be
less than 20 000 files or to buy Pro license. We specially allow users to
test the software free before they will decide to buy Pro license. And
some users use free version always or for a long time before exceeds
limitations.
This license is also valid for any future versions and patched of the
program. Just download a new version from our web site and install it over
the current version to keep your application settings intact."*****
It is clear to me from this letter that once the 20,000 file limit is
reached, you will have to wait the remainder of the 30 day period to again
be able to sync files. While I did not experience a shut-off, their intent
is clear.
The point to note is all files selected are counted whether they are
synchronized or not, therefore one must manage which files to synchronize
rather than select entire directories like I did. If managed well, I
should think 20,000 files per month should be sufficient for most
individual usages.

1. AllwaySync and GoodSync are two different programs
with similar roots in Unison, and neither is a "clone"
of the other. They are published by two different
companies, sold at different prices.
2. AllwaySync has capacity limitations at the FREE
level, which makes it a gentle "crippleware" because
user experience suggests that exceeding the limit only
generates a nag.
3. The FREE range will satisfy many users.
Thanks to those who mentioned alternatives, but I will
happily use my near-perfect solution comprised of Allway
to a removable memory stick (fits in wallet) and Mozy to
online storage.
A peaceful resolution, with no need to evoke Klara
Pölzl's son.

This was my experience, but it is not really what they are saying. They
indicate it will shutdown at 20,000 files within 30 days, and will reopen
for business after that period and for 30 day periods afterforth. If the
files that are sync'd are managed, 20,000 per month would be more than
enough for me, and most individuals. It is not a backup program.

Agreed...and for the wonderful interface, those who it works for will be
very happy.

Yes it is.

As a "sync program", 20,000 files is more than enough.
Who has more than 100 files as work in process at any
given moment?
I use it as a "backup program", however, and the total
is far more than that. The backed up folders contain
hundreds of thousands of files, though after the initial
backup everything is incremental. I just realized that
once the first backup was complete, subsequent transfers
were for incremental backups, and that might have kept
me within the limit on an ongoing basis.
It doesn't matter, since I've bought it, but that's a
possible reason for the apparent conflict.

Prolly, but any sync program has backup capabilities, WTH is it doing
except making two copies of the same file(s).
Nonetheless, I use Cobian to pull files off full and incremental into a
Truecrypted drive from Krazee's, the office and our home networks.
Allway Sync for copying files from home desktop to home/office laptops.
