Was wondering about Opera. Specifically:
1. Does it have something similar to the Noscript FF extension. This is the
one that turns off EVERYTHING that isn't plain HTML (e.g. Javascript, Flash,
iframes from other sites) then let's you turn on things selectively for each
website.
2. Does it have something similar to Scrapbook that let's me keep saved
webpages in a searchable archive? Bonus points if it would let me do some
quick DOM level editing a la Scrapbook.
Your input appreciated...

This version is fairly secure.

Not sure about the bells and whistles, but there may be plugins floating
around out there, somewhere.
'Opera' can be set up to disallow cookies, scripts, plug-ins, etc.
globally, which allows site-by-site setting (<right-click> site -
Edit Site Preferences... and, Block Content...).
'Firefox' is my mainstay, with 'Opera' acting as secondary which
has its own set of quirks/features, as they all do. As an example,
if the address - http://80.74.149.30:9999 is entered (an internet
radio stream), a dialogue opens offering Open or Save. If you save,
giving it a name, such as, 'Stream.mp3' then it will stream into
that file until a limit is reached or you stop the transfer. Using
tools like mp3DirectCut (http://mpesch3.de1.cc/) you can quickly
and easily extract the portions of interest without re-coding. If
however, the same address is entered into 'Firefox', then the page
'SHOUTcast D.N.A.S. Status' is presented, which gives statistics
on the stream (Max users, Current users, etc.).
There are many subtleties and ways of operation between browsers
that take a little time and effort to get the best out of.
I'm not sure why 'Opera' does not command the position, I think it
should, in the marketplace, then again... I do use 'Firefox'.
The suggested portable version is worth looking at to see if it
suits you. Give it a little time though.

You're on your own: I use 'Scrapbook' or tag it with QuotePad' -
(http://quotepad.info/), then process it later with an external
application.
P.S.
Don't blame me for the chosen stream: A random selection from a
lengthy 'foobar2000' list.
BTW--I have dropped back to Ff v.2.2 in order to get some control over
cookies.
You can use Internet Explorer.
LOL. I forgot the hours of "What the... !!!"
Got v3.5.5 portable but use the v2 branch, not happy with the 3 series
creep towards OS integration.
You may have a point about the night classes. :)
I'll have a look at 'Iron'.

LOL. But seriously folks...

Thank you for posting this comprehensive set of links.
I have a hectic few days ahead but will not waste your effort.
Again... thank you.
Just made myself a brew and (because it's you) decided to follow.
Looks like someone out there is pushing the envelope.
When I have time I'll take a superficial look at v5.x, if it looks
viable then v6 will get a pounding.
This has not crossed my path.
Thank you.
