I just finished several meetings with friends. This is the most awesome
online meeting/remote control resource I've used yet. It it too terribly
simple to use. The other invitees do not even need to install the program,
though a small RAM download will be necessary for them to join the meeting.
The initiator of the meeting simply starts a meeting using the installed
program which you register the email you choose to use and they send you a
password to be used to set up meetings. Once a meeting is set up, a code
to provide to invitees is provided. All an invitee has to do, is go to the
Mikogo website and click on join meeting...and enter the meeting code to
join.
Once they are in the meeting, they will see your desktop. If you wish, you
can transfer to them and you will see their desktop. I had five users on.
There is virutally no delay...which is incredible. We transfered files and
it is extremely fast transfers.
The only negative or con I can come up with right now is there is no voice
capability, though I was on the phone with everyone, I did a 3 way, and
the next did a threeway, and so on until everyone was on phone.
Being new to the program, yet so impressed with it's usability and
performance I am quite excited enough to say this is one of the top 10
finds for me this year.
Is it clear I am promoting this program? :)
Yes...you have to provide an email address, though in the time I've been
using the program, I have yet to see any black helicopters outside my
house...here's hoping.

I'm one of the team members behind Mikogo, and i was informed about
this group by BB. Great to see that you guys have been enjoying
Mikogo. Mikogo is a relatively new program so its really nice to hear
this positive feedback and read this thread.
Its been mentioned that Mikogo is lacking a voice component. We're
aware of this and working on it. The plan: a Skype Mikogo Extra. This
is still in development but once its up and running you'll all be able
to share your screens and chat through a couple of mouse clicks - at
absolutely no cost!
We're really looking forward to this, and i'll let you all know when
its out.
On the other hand, are you looking today for something new to boost
your Mikogo experience? Here it is: check out the new Mozilla Firefox

Thank you Andrew. I've been using Mikogo and it is really a program that
stands out from the crowd. The most impressive aspect beyond how easy it
is to use, and it's features is how fast it is. The file transfers blew me
away. I recieved an email from a Gent last night who wants me to help him
set up Opera with Usenet and RSS feeds. I plan to use Mikogo and Skype to
do so tonight. I'll tell ya how it goes, and maybe get him to chime in
also. What is FireFox? Just kidding...I'll check the addon tonight.

Sorry about it not working. i just found out today that none of the
new add-ons on the firefox site are working. They launched a new site
and changed some features. One vital feature is the setting to install
add-ons from the firefox "sandbox". They seem to have removed this,
making it impossible for new users to install "experimental" add-ons.
This is the case with the Mikogo add-on and all new add-ons. I tried
several today and got the same result.
What a crock!! Went to all this work to get the add-on developed, we
launch it on their site, and then this happens. Bloody bad timing.
Needless to say, i'm fuming over this. Not only have i mentioned it
here but other forums too. Not cool.
I spent a lot of time reading through the mozilla support pages, and
although there were some topics and questions raised on the issue or
similar issues, there hasn't been a direct solution provided. So i
eventually emailed them and i'm awaiting their reply. Believe me, i'll
make another post here when i get to the bottom of this.
Well, Mozilla are providing us with a cool browser, and i really
appreciate that.....but its just annoying when something like this
happens.
btw, you guys = you people (but in a friendlier way) Sorry, didn't
mean to cause offense. We've always used the term "guys" for a group
of people - have done so since high school. Its just what we always
said. But i admit that its not clear. Unclear message on my part - My
bad.

pretty much. It seems that its only the "experimental" add-ons that
aren't installing properly. And most importantly it applies only for
the mozilla users who have signed up in the last week.
Yeah, i've seen the reviews from the people who have tested the add-
on. We submitted the add-on to Mozilla approx. two weeks ago (18th
March). Following that, some of our users signed up and we got some
good reviews. Then things changed on the mozilla site on 27th March.
At first i wasn't aware that this was causing problems. But like i
said, the "sandbox" checkbox is now gone. And its this, that prevents
new mozilla users from installing and reviewing.
You'll notice that most of the reviews are before the 27th March.
Those that are after this date, are from users who registered their
account before the 27th March.
Will keep you posted when i get to the bottom of this. Otherwise,
Mikogo is working perfectly from its homepage.

Thanks Dave, interesting link and very positive reviews for the program. I
agree...Mikogo is great. It is so good, I am removing Crossloop, Logmein,
and realvnc from my website. Mikogo holds it's own. It is just the best.

I too have installed and use Mikogo and it works very well, thank you.
I just tried to install the Firefox addon but the download/install
failed with a hash error (corrupted file). FYI here.

Until the Skype Mikogo Extra is available, LoudTalks is a good way to go.
Loudtalks is based on p2p-architecture, small, unobtrusive and has group
functionality with push-to-talk (F7).
Of course, you need a microphone. I use my telephone for U.S. and Canada
sessions, keep it on speaker and talk away. However, if your participants
are long distance per your phone services, LoudTalks is of course free
anywhere via P2P VOIP.

website. Although I'm not 100% certain about what was changed on their
site to enable this, I have tested several different "experimental"
add-ons today and they all worked perfectly. Unlike last week, when i
tested a few add-ons and i got the same "corrupted file" message for
each different add-on. Dane, it seems you experienced this too. Today
I didn't get any installation errors. It was the same case when I
installed the Mikogo add-on.
So feel free to try the Mikogo add-on again. I'm sorry if this whole
thing has caused some confusion, but I believe the situation has been
rectified now.
