I can't find an answer to this on the website and was hoping somebody
here might have done this.

I have monitored an install that generated some 25 CLSID registry
entries... you know, the long GUID variety {E2E2DD38-D088-4134-82B7-
F2BA38496583} etc. What I want to do is to remove them all (using the
Total Uninstall feature) BUT then have the possibility of reinstating
them if needed.

I can do this by exporting them as individual .REG files from the
registry, but there's 25+ of them. TUN provides an export to text file
of all changes in its log file, but this isn't much help other than as
a "record". I'm also wondering about using XP restore points.

Any ideas please?

Use RegShot.

It's easiest to use it to monitor the INSTALL and save the changes in a
reg file.

But you probably could do the reverse - use it to monitor the UNinstall,
and play with the reg file to have it add rather than remove the entries
discovered during the scan.

Thanks Mike. I d/l and took a couple of shots as "plain text" and
saved each as type *.hiv. I then did a compare and was presented with
a text file showing the changes. How do I get this as/into a .reg file
please?

Do you need to add this to the ACF Freeware List?

It's the "Paraglider" compile; unfortunately his web site seems to be
inactive and the domain parked. There should be other spots where it is
archived.

RegShot & UNDOReg, use together.

RegShot is a small registry compare utility that allows you to quickly
take a snapshot of your registry and then compare it with a second one
- done after doing system changes or installing a new software product.
The changes report can be produced in text or HTML format and contains
a list of all modifications that have taken place between snapshot1
and snapshot2.In addition, you can also specify folders (with sub
filders) to be scanned for changes as well. In version 1.60+ you can
save your whole registry in a *.hiv file for future use.
Regshot is a free utility for Windows that allows you to capture a
snapshot of the registry and compare it with another snapshot taken
after any change has been made to it. The changes between the first and
last snapshot are recorded in a text or HTML format file. A free
plug-in from Paraglider allows you to save the snapshots in a .reg
format which can be easily imported into the registry by simply double
clicking on the file. Another add-on called UndoReg analyzes the report
generated and deletes referenced registry keys.
This software is useful if, for example, you are planning to install a
trial software and would like to be able to revert changes after it
expires.

Yes, good thinking, I will do so before bedtime tonight :-)
I'll even add a link for it!

Thanks John. This sounds like an interesting approach. But on the same
site I also found:
http://www.paraglidernc.com/plugins/regshot.htm

"The main difference between the original version and this version is
in the format of the log file produced. This version writes the
registry changes in NT4 registry file format. "

Maybe this is exactly what I need ???

A belated thanks for all your links.
I found Regshot Unicode 2.0 at http://www.czechcup.com/regshot/index.php
and finally figured the download is the button at lower left of page,
labelled Загрузка
