Is there a folder comparison app that has this feature?

best one I found so far is SwiftCompare Lite but it lacks the one
feature that I want the most: the ability to ignore whichever
sub-folders I choose. Every one I've found lacks this feature. Is
there one out there that does this?

why not separating them into different folders so that you would not

Because I shouldn't have to do that, there are folder synching
programs that let you uncheck the folders/files you don't want copied
for that same reason.

Because not all folders can be separated? Such as System32 on Windows.

Sorry but I don't knoiw what that means. I don't recall the names of
the other ones I've tried. I'm surprised that this isn't a common
feature in these folder comparsion apps, I thought someone here would
have known of one that has it.

I meant some option to use a search pattern like foo* and exclude all
directories and files that start with foo. regexp or regular expressions
would allow much more complex search patterns.
Do you want to ignore subfolders because you know they are same on both
sides or you want to ignore subfolders of only one side? Most folder
comparison tools are extremely fast to notice any significant
improvements in speed with folder ignorance unless you turn on checksum
comparison of some sort. I'll check the ones i have to see, if its possible.

Mainly because I have some folders that are quite large (I have a
folder full of video tutorials equalling about 20 GB and my music
folder is 7+ GB and having to scan these folders takes much longer
than it would if I skipped them. No reason to inlclude them if I know
they weren't changed.

Thanks. I already have FreeFileSync. That doesn't do what I'm asking
about. I downloaded Files Compare Tool but I haven't tried it yet. I
think my only hope is to submit a feature request to someone and hope
it gets considered.

I primarily use Toucan and DSynchronize in portable and installed modes
respectively for my syncing needs. I just checked in Toucan there is a
separate section for creating and saving rules. Rules to exclude files
by names, sizes, folders by paths or names and files and folders to
always include. All these options allow you to add as many strings or
regular expressions as you want. so in folder exclude you'd add up the
strings or words that match the folder names of the large directories or
you could skip the files by mentioning ignore files for >700mb or some
such rule and save your settings in a file as well.
Toucan is portable and you can get it on portableapps.com
