Yrrah, I use OnlineArmor Free with HIPS, MSSE, and on demand,
MBAM and HitMP, Comodo Cleaning Essentials. Nary a virus and I go
where no man has gone before, into Pron and Nationalist sites. If I
get a virus, I follow the usual advice, I reformat and flush the virus
down the toilette. That is possible because I have current snapshots
of the OS and data. About half an hour or less and I am surfing like
no one's business,wild and free.
Spybot is Jurassic, back with the Brontosaurus. Emsisoft has
fabulous detection, MSSE removes everything evil, and CCE or MBAM will
remove the detritus. I read ACF,learned of these appies here, and am
a happy surfer. Spybot, RIP.

Spybot S&D and AdAware were the gooduns back in the day, but I moved
away from them ages ago.

Well, to be quite honest - he tags along rather well. At least 1% of 1% of
desktop users care I'm sure. That is something.

They come right out and mention it here:

I quit using the program a long time ago. It was slowing down my
browsing too much.

Yeah, that's what I use. Also have a plethora of anti-rootkit stuff.
