ACFD's creation had NOTHING to do with ACF's creation. I remember
Garrett bringing it up. The fact that it is virtually dead does NOT
mean that we should suggest it as a vehicle to encourage what you have
suggested. Let that group die, USENET would be better if more useless
groups did likewise.

Is that relevant?

The only thing I'm encouraging is more consideration of others.

Attempts to DISCOURAGE off-topic discussions in ACF have been NOTABLY
unsuccessful. Exhortations such as "don't feed the trolls" have become
just additions to the noise. Since it is apparent that many people are
not willing to STOP sniping MOVING the sniping from ACF to ACFG would be
an improvement on the current situation. JMHO, YMMV etc. etc.

ACF and ACFD really are not related. ACFD has been or is near
meaningful posting death since, believe it was Garrett (but could be
wrong), it was first announced here.

Let it die, as a lot of meaningless groups should.

> See you over there. :)

Posts about what you suggest, "another

individual or the quality of an individual's post"

Well, they belong here, or nowhere.

NO!

ACFD originated INDEPENDENTLY of ACF. Original purposes of each
greoup are trivially different, may as well be the same. It never had
anything ever to do (as its purpose) to promote ACF group quibbling,
nor ACF PERIOD.

Basically ACFD is dying or dead. Please do not delay its demise by
suggesting that ACF quibbling or worse belongs there.

>See you over there. :)

NO. No other NG, dead or dying or otherwise, should be the dumping
ground of any other NG.

ACFD and ACF are NOT related. Both created without knowledge of the
other. AFCD is basically dead. Even if not, NO group should be set
up as a followup for what you suggest.

Leave it that way. USENET needs a weeding.

>See you over there. :)

Sorry, Susan, you do well for this NG, but I won't see you there.

Yeah, I got a name

Sorry Susan, I have to disagree. ACFD was formed independently of
this NG. Yes, it's basically dead, BUT it does not deserve life to
foster what you don't want here.

Whether any NG is dead or not, I have an obhorence to suggesting use
of it to "solve" this n\
Filters work fine, use them.

Sorry Susan here we disagree.

ACFD was formed independently of ACF. Yes, it's either dying of dead.
But suggesting that what bothers us should be funneled elsewhere is
wrong.

What's wrong with ACF should be handled in ACF (and with what is
right, likewise).

Good luck with that. ;-) I've been preaching don't feed the trolls
forever. Better to filter the troll feeders, too.

Dunno how or why ACFG was started but for the years I've been around
here ACFG has been used off and on by ACF "regulars" as a place to
discuss stuff that was not considered of general interest and/or was
considered off-topic in ACF. I'm suggesting we resume that practice.

Yeah, my suggestion will probably rank right up there with your "don't
feed the trolls posts" in effectiveness. ;)

Some days it seems to me that the only ACF posts are:
1. troll posts
2. snarky replies to troll posts
3. "don't feed the troll" posts
4. "here's how to filter the trolls" posts
5. "that post wasn't from me. it's a forgery" posts.

IMNSVHO. . .

THE topic in ACF is freeware programs. ANYTHING else that's posted in
ACF is noise. It would be nice if the "good guys" started posting ONLY
about PROGRAMS. ACFG is available for off-topic discussions that are
merely "related" to ACF.
