A high quality scanner is the best thing I know of. Haven't checked,
but there are probably some specifically for slides.
I've done that with some color slides and have generally been very
pleased with the results, especially after a little "doctoring" with
Photoshop.

Newegg.com would be a good place to start. Googling for "film scanner" will
keep you busy for a long time. How many slides you want to do, speed, what
quality you want and price will determine what's best. A lot of people buy
them then sell them on EBay when done.
It's possible to do it with a flatbed scanner with adapter but this is
generally frowned on if you want quality.
Good Luck. Asking in a scanner group couldn't hurt.
Your suggestion about e-bay is one I had not thought of.
Thanks
The major drawback of scanners is time.
One other solution could be to use a slide copier attached to a digital
SLR. I combined my Olympus E-500 with my old Olympus OM-bellows and
copier. Just pop in the slide, take a photo and remove the slide. 10-15
seconds per slide is the average.

There are also different solutions in combining a slide projector, or
using a static setup.
