slighlty OT: set-top boxes with AD (in UK)
I thought people might be interested: I just bought a set-top box with audio description, at Maplins, for 14.99. Product code N89LN - not in the catalogue, presumably as it's refurbished, but it is complete - even has aerial and SCART lead and battery for the remote. They're quite a nice box: very neat small unit, and though not speech-aided, you get... more »

So now that I've added that crosspost, I'll ask the question. For a blind reader of usenet, is it preferable for follow-ups to be... more »

Windows 8
I've been talking to some people, mostly sighted about this and to be honest most are saying they hate its new concept, with mmetro apps and tiles all over the place. The comment most given seems to be. Why do I want a concept which is mostly suited for mobile systems on my desktop. I don't want to run... more »

Stata
Greetings, I am writing to inquire if anyone is familiar with the statistical software Stata, and whether they have used it with JAWS or another screen reader, or know someone who has. I greatly appreciate any feedback on this topic. Regards, Gretchen
