A while back there was a thread mentioning the vinux project/linux
tweaked to come up talking for the blind among us, but when I went there
and tried to down-load it was slower than .gov paying down its debt. I
got best speeds of 2/4 KB per sec, and even with an accelerator making
up to ten connections on my good isp at home rarely got over 20 KB and
average was maybe fourteen KBS. As the server I connect to at home
seems to reset once a day I never got much more than half of the 1.8 GB
file on my hard drive. Well, they got some new band width, or no one is
going there now because a few days back I got it all in way less than a
day, and just checked the connection here on the crappy ISP at work/it
maxed out for this 512 KB connection. the test showed 53 or 54 KBs. A
good time to go Linux if you are so inclined, and if not just disregard
this post.
I for one will cinstall and start the learning curve here soon/try to
get out from under MS's thumb. Time will tell.

P.S.-anyone else get a scam spam sent from somewhere in the UK saying
that they had one some kind of micro soft aniversary prize. (even if
you are easily taken in if you know a bit about comp.biz you'd smell a
rat in this one as they were thanking
Bill Gates along with MS for making it all posible)
B.H. that's not why I want to at least partially switch to Linni.
