Is Windows 7 easy to install without Sighted Assistance? I am thinking of getting it at some point for installing on my laptop which has Vista if I can't get Linux to run with me not having Sighted assistance to be able to add my CDROM drive to the boot order which might be why Live CDs of Ubuntu don't appear to run.
I think nothing is totally foolproof in this world, and so it is with7. I failed to manage it myself due to the fact that half way through the install, it has to do a reboot to start with Win7 running and it is here where the problem lies. If your hardware is not supported by win 7, you may be unlucky enough for it not to have drivers for the sound. In that case it might need to go on line and find them, and if you are also unlucky enough for it not to have drivers for your net interface, you sit there in silence with no way to get the drivers. Why it cannot be inteligent enough to tell you while the old OS is running is anyones guess, but at least when I tried it on the pre realease version this was what happened, and I've kind of lost interest now one has to shell out to get it.

Win7 is just the same for installation by a blind user as any other MS operating system. If you are upgrading, it may work - but using Narrator, if you have sound support on the other side of the upgrade. Clean installs (which are always preferred) don't work with speech.
Having said that, if you can get someone to help you, Win7 is so much of an improvement, especially the 64-bit version.
