To help raise funds for the Class Of 79, that very nice man Simon
Fraser has donated 3 pages of artwork for us to sell in order to help
with issue #3's printing costs.

If you want to see the pages in question take a look at the Class Of
79 Web Site at:

http://www.cybergoth.net/classof79/

and follow the link to:

THE GREAT SIMON FRASER ART AUCTION

Please send any bids directly to me and not to the News Group, Mail
List or on 79's message board.

On May the 1st the highest bidder for each page will be notified and
asked if they still want to pay the bid amount, if not the next
highest bidder will be notified.

The only extra on top of what you bid will be the postage cost to get
the artwork to you.

As most of us know Simon lives in Vienna and once his artwork has been
printed it is sent to his family home in Scotland. Simon's art doesn't
come up for sale that often so use this opportunity to get yourself
some original art from one of 2000's most popular characters in recent
times.

Our thanks to Simon, and don't forget to visit Simon's, Nikolai Dante
page at:

http://www.cybergoth.net/tuws/Dante/Index.html

for more of his work.

La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.

If anyone had any problems accessing the Simon Fraser Art Auction
pages on 79's site yesterday the file names have now been changed and
should all work now.

See the previous message for all the details.

For an apparantly fan favourite artist the pages of Simons artwork 79
has for sale are getting very little interest. To date I have received
one bid and that was from someone who saw the page for real at Comics
99.

The reason that 79 put Simon's pages on our web site was so that a
true fan who uses alt.comics.2000ad or the 2000AD Mail List would have
the chance to own some original art from an artist who doesn't
regularly put his work on the market. I'd rather have seen the art go
to someone who would appreciate it than some body with loads of cash
who buys stuff of e-bay.

This doesn't seemed to have worked and as much as I'd like the pages
to go to a good home I think that the only way that we will raise any
cash from them is to put them up for auction on a site such as e-bay.

If no serious bids have arrived by Sunday evening then The Simon
Fraser Auction pages on 79's site will be taken down and the art
offered for sale some where else.

La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.

Last time I checked the website my browser couldn't access the auction page.
Now that that's cleared up and I've had a look here's a question. For those
of us who haven't bought much original art would you mind giving a rough
figure on what you'd consider a serious first bid?

I've just been in touch with an art dealer who will give me an
approximation of what they are worth which I'll post when I get the
answer.

You might want to try auctioning them through www.ebay.com - I've found
them to be pretty good (and well-used).
