He's funny, but sometimes his eye makeup clashes with his shoes.
Exactly what I was thinking. LG
You are bald and moronic.
Post less.
You're delusional.
How come in all the years you've
been doing standup no one's ever
heard of you?
You are not politically astute.

Reidman is quite a bitchanus.
He's my absolute favorite comic.

Personally I thought his HBO Special was hilarious, I also remember seeing him
a lot on the old Whose Line is it Anyway's (he still pops up occasionally on
comedy central's reruns.) that was before he started bringing his crossdressing
into his stage persona, but it doesn't change his humor.
Iin recent years I have become less and less a fan of british humor, I still
like the occasional Monty Python or Rowan Atkinson, but I hated the League of
Gentlemen, and that Bob and Margaret show on Comedy Central, and I really wish
they weren't brining back Absolutley Fabulous, but Eddie Izzard is one of the
few bits of modern british comedy that I like.

I've only seen his hbo special and I was impressed.

I've only seen the HBO special, thought it was great. The cross dressing non
withstanding. So his act was pretty much the same before? i'm not much for
British humor either, especially the standups so he impressed me with his
material. A lot of English humor tends to lean toward the toilet type. Are there
any other British comics along this vein? LG

Why? Has he slept with more guys than you?
it was the same in the regard that it was funny and intelligent, not in the
regard that he hasn't written any new material since then.
Rye
I tried, really, I tried.... but I just couldn't get into his show.
> who 'is 'eddie 'lizord?
Forget the filter. Scan & skip. Wowser.
I think most of the time he's great. Not too many are brilliant ALL of
the time.
He came to Melbourne last year and I met up and chatted with him at one
of the gala party things and initially we just stared at each other
because we had the same hair and makeup. I know lots of people gather
that he's gay but he certainly built up a bit of a reputation here for
whisking young girls off behind the backstage or dressing rooms for... I
dunno, 'to borrow their lip liners?' Probably. Anyway, I like him and
when I watched his show I saw over an hour of all new stuff (from what
I'd seen on video, previously.)

I'll agree...I've seen him live and he has such an amazing stage presence that
I was immediately taken with him. Some of his material is not very original
compared to other Brittish comics I've seen but his delivery and style is so
charming, it makes him worth watching over and over.

Wow, that's actually my favorite Eddie Izzard bit as well. I even downloaded
the entire HBO special on MP3 just so I could hear him go "Very well!" (that
and the special is pretty decent to listen to.)

I was told when I grew up I could be anything I wanted:
a fireman, a policeman, a doctor --- even President,
it seemed. And for the first time in the history of mankind,
something new, called an astronaut. But like so many kids
brought up on a steady diet of Westerns, I always wanted
to be the avenging cowboy hero --- that lone voice in the
wilderness, fighting corruption and evil wherever I found it,
and standing for freedom, truth and justice. And in my heart of
hearts I still track the remnants of that dream wherever I go, in
my endless ride into the setting sun.

And he has now put out what, 3 2-hour shows of almost all new material in
4-5 years?
I'm betting long haul. On the other hand, his whole plan seems to have
been to become a movie star, and he has gotten a number of character roles.
That might distract him.

Haven't heard much other than the HBO thing. Look forward to whatever he does from that. M

Well he was doing comedy years before he started crossdressing onstage, and
that HBO special was a couple of years ago, it just gets re-run a lot.
I remember seeing him on some old Whose Line is it Anyways (filmed in 1988)
dressed in normal men's attire, and according to the IMDB, he did his first
Comedy special in 1993, titled Live at the Ambassadors, and since I imagine
they didn't just hand him a special, he must have spent some years working up
to that as well.

It might not have been his "whole plan" to become a movie star, it's probably
more like the Steve Martin thing, where Steve got to a point where he could
sell out stadiums and then backed away from doing stand up and started doing
films.
and since Eddie apparently HUGE in england according to some Brits I talk to on
other messahe boards, he figured he'd done the biggest he could in Stand up,
and decided to move on to something else.

It appears he already has.

Just saw a video of "Circus" (Brit criminal caper flick in the vein of
"Snatch") where he plays a deeply disturbed bookie to very good effect. His
part in "Shadow of the Vampire" was impressive.
I don't see why he couldn't keep on doing both acting and stand-up for as long
he wants.
