David Ossman is auctioning off some of his collection of
Firesign album proofs - original cover proofs of DWARF,
GIANT RAT, HOW TIME FLYS, JUST FOLKS, etc. Real one-of-a-kind
Firesign items!

I don't have all the details yet, but the auction will only
be for a few days; kind of pricey (the minimum bid on the
album proofs are mostly $1000) but tell your rich friends.

More details as soon as I get them.

I got his email but only with
an ms-Word doc attached which
I can't open in WordPerfect and
is fairly scrambled by Wordpad.
Wanna print the list here?
(Or someone wanna send me
a txt, wpd or even a doc
using a more primitive
version [i.e. 7] of ms-Word?)

here's what I have. It's not quite official yet, I've
suggested they try a 10-day ebay auction.

ONE-OF-A-KIND FIRESIGN COLLECTABLES
DIRECT FROM DAVID OSSMAN'S PERSONAL COLLECTION

(1) ORIGINAL COLOR PROOF13-1/2 X 15 inches
"DON'T CRUSH THAT DWARF, HAND ME THE PLIERS" (1970)
Robert Grossman's award-winning portrait of Firesign as creatures of the Zodiac against a dark burnt-orange background. Front cover of album only with spine information on the left. Color register lines in the bottom margin. Tack holes in the corners, otherwise in very good shape after 30 years. Signed "David Ossman/George Tirebiter" in the bottom white margin. Historic original.

MINIMUM BID $2,000

(2) ORIGINAL COLOR PROOFS 13-1/2 X 15 inches each
"THE CASE OF THE GIANT RAT OF SUMATRA" (1974)
Robert Schulenberg's pair of comic Firesign portraits. The front cover resembles a Victorian theatrical poster, the title writ large. The back cover features a pen-and-ink sketch of "The Firesign Theatre, Goonrat, 1921," along with the album's characters, chapter titles and other credits. Both slick proofs are very, very clean. Both proofs signed in the bottom margin, "From the collection of David Ossman/Dr. John Flotsom, O.D."

MINIMUM BID $1000

(3) ORIGINAL REPRODUCTION PHOTO OF COVER ART 16 x 20
"IN THE NEXT WORLD, YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN" (1975)
William Stout's Interspecies Baseball Game - the back cover of the album, titled "Chapter One: "We've Lost Our Big Kabloona." Printed on a large sheet of Kodak photographic paper. Very, very clean. Signed "From the collection of David Ossman" in the bottom margin.

MINIMUM BID $1000

(4) ORIGINAL COVER PROOF 27 x 15 inches
"JUST FOLKS . . . A FIRESIGN CHAT" (1977)
John Lykes' faux Magritte portrait of Firesign in bowler hats on the right side of this full two-cover proof, credits against a barren landscape on the left. No fold line, very, very clean. Signed "From the collection of David Ossman" in the bottom margin.

MINIMUM BID $1000

(5) ORIGINAL COVER AND DORAMA PROOFS PLUS A
SPECIAL PROMO INSERT.
DAVID OSSMAN'S "HOW TIME FLYS" (1973)
Joe Garnett's 15 x 27 inches, two-sided cartoon Mark Time action scene set overlooking Panoramaland 2000. Proof was folded down the right side of the spine. Otherwise a clean copy, hot off the press. Signed "David Ossman/Mark Time/2000." Together with the proof for the "Free 3-D Diorama" to be packed inside the album sleeve, 14 x 16 inches, with color proofing bars along the bottom edge. Shows some handling marks. Signed as above. Included is a clean, unmarked copy of the insert 12 x 13-1/4 inches,
with an upper border reading "David Ossman's Hi-Fi Sci-Fi with The Firesign Theatre." Too large to be packed with the album, these were a limited promotional run. Signed as above, under printed name.

MINIMUM BID, ALL THREE ITEMS $1000

(6) SLICK PROOF OF ORIGINAL COVER ART WORK, B&W
"HOW TIME FLYS" (1973)
Joe Garnett's original un-colored black and white "comic-book" cover drawing, at the original scale on a sheet 17 x 30 inches. Position of the spine information is indicated with an arrow and reproduction info is written in the top margin of the drawing.. Several pin-holes in the corners, one torn through, but otherwise clean. Signed as above.

MINIMUM BID, $500

(7) SLICK PROOF OF ORIGINAL ADVERTISING ART WORK
"DEAR FRIENDS" (1972)
A Robert Grossman black-and-white line drawing of the Firesign flying high, carrying the double-sleeve album open, spilling out dozens of characters from the contents. Funny Firesign characatures at their alternate radio best (Ossman rides an "FST" microphone). Sheet measures 14 x 20 inches. Corner pin holes and some edge wear from handling. Truly unique. Signed "From the collection of David Ossman" on the upper margin.

MINIMUM BID $500

(8) ORIGINAL WILLIAM STOUT ART WORK

"EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG" FILM (1974)
Drawn and lettered in mixed media (pen, crayon, colored marker) on a sheet of heavy art-board with edges bound in black tape. Shows the Heater/Hellmouth area of the Inferior Valley as far North-West as the Salty Sea and Eastward across the Chile Colorado River to Rumor and Curio, Arizona. Unique Firesign item by a celebrated illus
trator.

(9) RARE ORIGINAL "CIRCUS" STREET SIGNS. 14 x 22-1/2 in
FIVE (5) COPIES, READING:
"THE ENTIRE FIRESIGN THEATRE/FEB. 28-29-MAR.1/ROXY"
These bright red-and-yellow cardboard posters (by Colby Poster Printing, L.A.) were tacked on telephone poles in the Sunset Strip area, advertising the Firesign's up-coming Spring1980 show, "Meanwhile in Billville," parts of which were released later that year on Rhino as "Fighting Clowns." Stolen or desroyed as fast as they were posted, these old-fashioned items are printed with 5-inch high wooden letters and are rare souvenirs. Signed "David Ossman, Fighting Clowns, 1980." All but one are undamaged, o
ne was saved right off the pole and shows staple marks.

He's SOLD OUT!

Anyone know why good ol' DO is doing this? Charity? Needs the cash? Tired
of "Living the Future"?

Just curious, has any form of this map ever been put in jpeg form on the web
anyplace?
