Oooh, weddings! This sounds like lots of fun! Thanks for
asking, Michelle, and i hope you get yours up here soon.

Here's a photo of Andy and me, with one of our best friends, Joe
the Lion, outside the church on wedding afternoon, July 26, 1997:

and here's another photo right after the ceremony. It was like
herding cats to do this photo, but it worked out gorgeously:

Let's see some more wedding photos please!

I used ZipIt to open her wedding pics. You have to open the program
first then open the file you want to unzip. For some reason you can't
just click on the wedding photos and have it open automatically. If you
don't have ZipIt you can get it from freeware.com or shareware.com

My dress had a train too, Kitti. It was equipped with buttons

it would be out of the way for dancing.

I know we have many more Dawnettes out there! Post! It's almost like a Dawn
fashion show! Oh wouldn't it be cool if someone not married yet would design a
dress around one of Dawn's???? Oh goodness... Pink Slink would be a beautiful
bridesmaid gown. Ohhhhhh wait... petals and pleats would be pretty for a
summer wedding! Gosh, has anyone done a wedding scene yet? I wish I had a
digital cam!! Maybe Lori can bring hers this way for the Atlantic City show
and we can make a wedding scene! Ok, I'm getting off track again! :-)

here's a few more from my wedding- the first one is my dad, then of course- me and
my danny cutting the cake. my husbands aunt made our wedding cake. did i mention
that my mother made my dress? before i got married i used to cut out pictures of
wedding dresses from magazines and save them. when i got engaged- i pulled out
the folder and looked through the pictures and pulled one out. i took it upstairs
and showed my mom and said-can you make this for me- (she can sew anything). my
sister was engaged also and getting married a month after me. i had left the
picture sitting on the kitchen table, she picked it up and said- hey, it's my
wedding dress!- i said- no, it's mine. my mother was sitting on the couch grining
because she realized she would only have to make one dress! a few years later,
one of my younger sisters also wore the dress, and a few months ago, a friend of
mine was married in it.

Yep... it was my mom's crown which I always loved looking at as a kid. She had
saved just the crown. Mom made a new pouf for the back and a long removable
veil for the back and the blusher. So at the reception i would just have the
crown with the pouf.

I did my own hair that morning cause growing up with your mom and 2 sisters as
hairdressers... trust me you get tired of the primping.

I was happy how my hair came out.. all i wanted them to do was put the damn
crown on my head. After 40 mins i said.. just leave there... right there where
it is and pin the damn thing in. :) It was crooked all night but i loved it.

grrrrr i have to go look for the pics now.

everyone else pick what they wanted for the most part including flowers, the
cake, pictures, church songs etc- except for my dress. I just didn't want to
deal with all the stress of it and I'm so glad I did it this way cause I really

Ok here's my dress story:
(I know this is long but believe me this is the short version LOL)
Me and Steve had been living in Las Vegas for about 8 months before we finally
decided to drive back to Jersey to live and get married here instead. (we had
planned on staying in Vegas before this) So here I am trying to make all these
plans long distance for the reception and the church and trying to find a
dress. I find the dress of my dreams in a magazine and when I call about it
it's $14,000!!!! OMG! Steve and I paid entirely for everything in our wedding
(except the cake which is ANOTHER story) so this was certainly out unless I
took the money we had saved for our house! haha yeah right! (thought about it
though) I was getting so frustrated and overwhelmed that I finally I just said
I don't care which dress I get...I'll just find something cheap. I checked out
the classified ads and finally bought a beautiful modern wedding gown from a
women who wore it once for $350. I call a few of my friends back home and tell
them to just pick out anything they want to wear cause my dress is white and
anything will match and I just let Steve's brother take care of the reception
for me cause I always wanted a garden party type wedding so we had it at his
house and told him to just send me the bills. Called the florist and told her
to just pick out something pretty and fresh and in my price range So..that's
sounds easy enough huh? Well, about about a month before we are set to go back
I start crying about my dress! Now mind you a lot more is going on beside this
darn dress but I'm hysterical crying cause I hate the dress now that I bought
and blah blah blah! Steve was so upset and doesn't know what to do so he looks
in the yellow pages and finds a seamstress lady and takes my picture of my
dress from the magazine ad to her and she says she can make it for me for
$1,200!!!!! So I was at this lady's house every other day for 4 weeks and
finally it was done on the very same day we were leaving town to drive across
the country. Me, Steve, and the 2 dogs with a wedding gown in the back and our
luggage! I ended up giving the other gown away to good will on the way out of
town too!!!! I'll never forget that! I really love that dress and I have it
preserved under my bed hopefully for Helen someday.
Here's a picture of the magazine ad that I saved:

Oh and here's me and my Dad:

Since it's Jim's birthday, I decided to tell everyone publicly how much
I love him:

http://www.sitemouse.com/users/nosdollgic/index.shtml

I didn't have time to clean up the tears in the pic (this is my
grandma's copy). I have a dress story too. I searched high and low after
my dress I designed (and bought the material for and hired a seamstress
for) was vetoed by my grandmother. I was at my wit's end- everything I
liked was about $10,000. I was at a pretty low point in my life when I
was back visiting my hometown area and found my dress at a little
boutique in Sausalito. I put the dress on and got kinda choked up about
everything going on and what it would be like to walk down the aisle. As
I was in the shop, some girl's mother called to confirm that her
daughter wanted the dress. The shop lady looked at me and told her it
was sold. It was the only dress in my size left and they never made any
more. I wish the iridescence of the lace and beads showed up in the
pics. I loved hearing everyone else's story- thanks!

Here's a couple of my wedding pics - I *cannot* believe
it's been 13 years. I don't have a great gown story, I

Sarah, what wonderful wedding photos! That picture of you with
your grandpa is just priceless. I've been loving everyone's
photos and stories, but hope that people who are single or
otherwise not possessed of wedding photos don't feel left out -
married people can be so self-absorbed! LOL!

My sister made my wedding gown, such as it is; really a very
simple dress with a lace bodice that she made from a Simplicity
pattern for a tea dress! I am not frill-oriented and I LOVED it,
and as plain as it was it looked stunning all the same. That's
the bride's magic at work, I guess! Andy and I planned a rather
traditional wedding with a whole bunch of little twists and
details to make it unique. And everything was perfect, of
course... the only mishap is we kept 3-year-old ring bearer Luke
out too late on rehearsal night and he was kinda cranky and
spazzy - when it was his turn to walk up the aisle he took one
look at all the people looking back at him, and lit off at top
speed for the chapel in the back corner of our church! Somehow
the rings made it up to the altar later, and Luke crashed in a
back pew and was his usual happy self again by cake-cutting time
later that afternoon...

Oh, what the heck - I already posted a couple but here's our
whole wedding page - please don't click unless you want to be
just inundated with wedding pictures!

Nice pix everyone! just curious though, as you know I have never been married,
but I have had more than my share of weddings to attend and be a part of, I was
just wondering what is the average amount of weddings that people have
attended, for example, I only have 4 to go to this year (that is a slow year
for me) I usually average 6 weddings a year, for the past few years, I was also
wondering how many weddings everyone has been in, I have been in over one dozen
myself (maid of honor 6 times 3 of them were within 6 months!) the weddings
that I have gone to and was not a member of the bridal party I was asked to do
the readings in the mass or ceremony depending on what religion the couples
were, and I have also put together, about 10 weddings for my friends
everything from where to book the wedding, the DJ's or bands, the wedding
favors, the photographers and the florist (I have a lot of connections) anyway
as I said earlier is this normal, or do I just know way to many people? I will
have to say though some of my favorite ceremonies are those of the Russian and
Greek orthodox, they are very moving! I think it would be fair to say that I
have to have attended over 60 weddings in recent years (only 9 of them were
family), and the only thing I know is that my friends and family cannot wait
for me to get married, they have all kinds of things up their sleeves for that
day! Mom is going to purchase a fireworks show! LOL! All I know is that it
definitely would be payback time to all of my friends LOL! Just kidding I was
just wondering if this was the norm or do I just know way too many people??

BABS!!! you know toooooo many people!!

Gosh i died cause i have 3 weddings this year on Tom's side and i have to get 3
dresses. My sister's are done and over with.... twice for one. But I do have
2 girlfriends i'm waiting on... that i know I'll be the maid of honor for.
I've been in 4 wedding parties... always the bridesmaid. 2 were my sisters... 1
my aunt the other a friend. I have had it with wedding parties to... I wish my
2 girlfriends would hurry up already LOL.. if they could hear me. As matter of
fact, one of them is getting engaged on st patricks day.... so she thinks but
yea i know the truth...she is! LOL.

My wedding dress story is kind of boring.. like Kitti's.

Two years before i got married... a friend of mine was getting married and her
mom had just died. I felt so bad... that I had to just be there to help her
with everything. So.. we went on the hunt for her gown... we found one she
liked near home but she didn't try it on. We went all over the place to every
store....and finally to the city to this huge bridal place..... i watched her
try on a million things. I watched as snoppy sales people ran around the skinny
straved girls instead of helping my friend. who was not a big girl at all
but... just average. Finally she made me go back to the very first store that
she saw the first gown in. when she tried that one on i burst into tears....
like i was the mother of the bride or something. She looked at me and said i
guess this is it.

Well lesson that i learned.... i knew i was going to use that same dress shop.
I had found my bridesmaid dress in a magazine and went there with my girlfriend
for her to see it. A different girlfriend. I was NOT there for my dress...
HA i wasn't ready for that. Then the lady said to me...how about you? do you
have your dress? i said ooh no. She pulled out three dresses.... i picked up
the 2nd one.... and I said well i can't try it on. Thinking okay this thing is
what.... a size 4 or something?
She checked and said... ooh it's in your size. hahahahaha... I tried it on...
bugged out in the mirror.... it was $650... so i bought it on the spot!
:)
i loved my dress... it was just what i wanted and i found it so fast. no
hassles no running around.

Sarah! You are such a cutie pie! If anyone ever looked sweet and innocent on
their wedding day it is you!!!!! How touching, the picture of you and your
grandfather!

As for you Babs...I agree with Lori...you know WAY too many people! hahahaha
I would love to see a picture from your favorite one! I would be broke from
all those weddings! Goodness!!

Here are some pics of my Maxwell as the ring bearer for my cousin's wedding.
He was enjoying himself WAY TOO MUCH with all those bridesmaids! haha They
were calling him the "chick magnet"! Anyway he was only 2 1/2 and Cal was a
newborn so he was left home that night. Sorry, again I couldn't pick just one!

My dress story is not all that exciting.
We did not have any money to spend at
all, so my dress budget was around 500.00. I went looking for a wedding dress
and could not find anything I liked at all,
not to mention that there was not a single
beat up, kicked around, holy dress for
500;00! So I walked out disgusted and
depressed. I remembered that I had a really nice lacey dress that I had from
years ago. I took the dress out tried it on
and decided that was going to be my wedding dress! And I only paid 8.00 for
it on clearance at fashion bug. The dress was white satin with a lace overlay.
It did
go to the floor in a zig zag type fashion.
I was happy Chris was happy and we had
a great wedding. It was more like a huge
picnic then a wedding but I loved it!
Sandy
I will post a pic once I can.

Okay Sandy wins for the Bargin of a Deal on her wedding dress!

Damn... I would have been thrilled to find something like that.

I think it is such a waste to spend so much money on these dresses. Yes they
are beautiful... i love the beads... love the lace... but come ON. it's for one
darn day!

It killed me to spend 650 on mine and i wasn't even paying for it... my dad
was. but still... it was a very nice dress but to much for one day. It's still
haning in my closet cause i never had the extra money to go have it clean and
preserved and stuff.. the local place here started at $100 and my dress being
an extra size would have cost twice that. Sad.. i should try to go have it done
now. But i just never think to do it.

i have to scan my pictures.... i have to show you my shoes. I killed myself
more over my shoes then i did my dress...

One of my sister in laws had her long train made into a Christening gown for
her kids, it was one of the nicest christening gowns that I had ever seen! My
other sister in law is one of those size 2 people, she walked into a store
tried on a dress liked it, only to find out that it was one of last years
models and on sale for $99.00 from $500.00! Her Veil cost more than her dress!
LOL! When it comes to wedding fashions, I really don't think that it matters
if the dress is a new model, last years model or 100 years old! If you like it,
you like it! Thats what makes it worth so much!

I will try to pull some out and scan them, one of my favorites was When my
brother Bill got married ( I was in the wedding party and decorated the limo's
and cars, with the usual just married for the limo, and "we are still available
signs for the other cars") anyway, I have a picture of my brother Bill who is
kissing the maid of honor, and My brother Andy who was his best man kissing the
Bride, it is such a typical picture for my family! But if I were ever to get
married I have absolutely no idea how to chose a maid of honor, I was the maid
of honor for both of my sisters, and for my best friend of 32 years (Maureen)
How could I possibly chose any of them over the other? I am close with all of
them! Maybe I would just wheel Grandma up to the alter and have her as my maid
of honor, she keeps telling me that she is waiting around for me to get married
(she is 96) and she said the other day that she is getting pretty tired of
waiting for me! LOL!

Babs,
As a matter of fact, I did pick my Grandmom for my maid of honor. I was
trying to scan my pix last night to put up but I kept getting "not enough
memory" and I finally gave up for the night. Anyway, best decision I ever
made, she was so nervous and cute! She kept telling me to pick a friend, but
unfortunately we don't always stay friends with people and you will always
love your Grandmom. She died not long after and I will always have that
memory.

I am really enjoying everybody's pictures! You are all such beautiful
brides!! The stories are precious too! ~Angie

i think i mentined before that two of my sisters and a friend wore my
dress when they got married- i was glad it wasn't just laying in a
box! my one sister didn't want me to let my friend wear the dress- but
i convinced her that it should be used!!!! im not sure how much it
cost- my mother made it- so i don't think it was too bad- it's the labor
that really gets expensive! i could never have spent alot of money on a
dress!

Oh Angie , what a wonderful story. Try creating another screen name or
something so you can load the picture there. I would love to see. I think it
is wise to pick someone like that when you are getting married too.

I only had a maid of honor in my wedding....no bridesmaids at all. It was just
too hard to do everything from across the country and I am into enjoying things
more than stressing out so I picked her cause she was my closet friend at the
time and roommate before I moved out to Vegas. I could pick her without hurting
someone else's feelings too cause she was not connected to anyone else. Like I
have 2 cousins and 3 old college roommates etc. and to choose one would not be
fair and labels who I care most about.

My girlfriend Lisa made a HUGE mistake of doing that "who should I pick thing"
and she hurt alot of her girlfriends feelings. I remember one girl wanted to
be her maid of honor or she wouldn't be in the wedding. That is a shame. I
don't think my girlfriend handled it right but it's not my business so whatever
but that's a shame. I think she was trying to pick between her best friend now
that she worked with and her old best friend she grew up with but didn't see as
much cause she moved away or something. She should have just picked them both
or not had a maid of honor OR had her Grandma be it but she didn't and I think
she ruined that friendship. Some girls really get upset over that best friend
thing.

i made a mistake with one of my friends when i sent out my wedding invitations. my
best friend lived at home with her parents- i knew her whole family so i sent an
invitation to their home for the whole famiy. she was offended because she thought
i should have sent one to her personally. she was also having a hard time because
i wasn't spending as much time with her and she didn't really like the guy i was
marrying. i did apologize to her about the announcement thing and we talked alot
about my commitment to dan and how that was going to take alot of my time to
develop our relationship as husband and wife. i let her know that she was very
important to me and so forth. anyway to make a very long story short- we worked
through it all and now 17 years later she is still my best friend and she likes my
husband now. i helped her through her wedding and then through a divorce. she
calls me her kids "surrogate father" because they come to my house alot when she
has plans for the weekend he is supposed to take them then he calls at the last
minute and says he can't come. they practically lived with me for a month when her
father was dying because he wouldn't take them for any extra time. anyway-
fiendships are fragile things aren't they- i think what got us through it all is
that we knew that we really did care about each other and we accepted the fact that
we aren't perfect and that we are going to make mistakes. we've had other
disagreements through the years, but we always work it out.

also I had a party at a gun club that my father- in- law was president of,
not a real reception..... it was free......Cake was given to us from my best

my maid of honor. There's my shoe !! :) I know it looks like nothing but they
were nice shoes. suede bottoms so you don't slip... really cool.

Me and Tom and our Best Friends, Jen and Rob. They are both close enough to be
like our siblings anyway. Next is us turning around after the i do's. My groom
looks so happy.... but it was him who cried during the ceremony ... i had to
give him my hanky! Next is the bridal party... YES i was nut to have so many
people. but it was fun ! Next.. getting blasted with birdseed!! You don't
want to know where Tom found birdseed that night! LOL

http://members.tripod.com/~CntssMorra/wedpic3.jpg

One of my fav pics. If you know me.. you know I do that stand thing... with my
hip like that. I had to have a pose like that.
Then me and dad dancing... Still my favorite dance partner. Then my cake and my
cake top. I bought the little statue of wedding bears long before the wedding.
Bears was our thing and theme i guess. the invitations had bears... and i had
this cute little statue. Then my mom bought the stuff to make the cake stand
with backdrop and all. It came out cute. then she made me wedding
bears......and blah.. i got sick of bears... :)

thats it.. hope you liked...

my hair. Oh my, oh my, all of you are SOOOO lovely! I will have to get a few

I also went to a wedding where they used bubbles rather than
birdseed. This was about three years ago, and most of the
people didn't realize that they were supposed to blow them. I
remember a couple of snobby acting and expensively dressed women
giving people nasty looks because bubbles touched their
clothes. LOL (We had birdseed at mine. My daughter threw the
entire basket of it at us. When we got to our suite and I
undressed, I still had tons of birdseed in my clothing!
Yuck!!!) Anyway, I love the bubbles. It looks so romantic!

it is kinda dumb to ban throwing rice, then there was the paper confetti, (I
remember when my church banned it they said if it rains they end up having rice
pudding and paper mache on the steps) and I do not know why they changed from
Birdseed to bubbles, but one of the weddings I was in last year, had the
bubbles, and the wedding was at 6pm in October, so when they came out of the
church and everyone was blowing the bubbles, the flashes from the camera's were
reflected in the Bubbles, which came out to be a neat looking picture with the
dark backround the couple and the shining bubbles! I will admit that if I ever
do get married, I am going to have at least one person throw rice for good
luck. Did you notice that the divorce rate grew as the throwing of rice went
down! LOL! Just kidding!

From what I've heard, the ban on rice is because of the birds.
The birds eat the rice. The rice expands in their little
stomachs, and then...KABAM!!! Poor little birds.

What a great idea Angie. My sister Sid stood up for me at our
blessing. The only problem is that she was prettier than me! My
sister Vik had stood up for Sid when she got married so it was just
right to have Sid stand up for me. My mother got her this gorgeous
lavender gown as part of a dollar bag on the last day of the church
sale and she looked amazing! Cal had his brother stand up for him in
his Air Force uniform and he looks fabulous with Sid.
