1847 US 5 cent question

I have what I am sure is an 1847 Benjamin Franklin 5 cent US stamp and
am wondering how a private individual who is ignorant of stamp
collecting/selling and who lives in northern Canada would go about
finding the stamps value. If there is any value I would also like to
know how to sell the stamp without getting taken to the cleaners so to
speak. Any ideas?
