Hi,

Im having a problem with a Rockola 429 I just got.

When a single selection is made the mech will load a record on
turntable(which is spinning) and tone arm lowers to record, then it
just stops.

When several selections are made the mech operates as it should
loading, playing and cancelling.
Then when final selection is reached, the same problem occurs. Loads
record, tone arm drops and turntable stops.

Ive worked on a couple seeburgs, But the rockola is different and Im
not an expert by any means.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this type of
problem.

Thanks,
Frank

I don't recall the same problem, but it sounds like the cam switches in
the rear of the mech. On a machine of that vintage I would replace all
of them, so keep your service manual by your side to keep them all
adjusted properly.

Believe you have a defective home switch. I don't have a 429 manual.
On the early 60's models this is a set of points at the bottom of the
selector pinbank. Later models used a wiper blade on the read-out
carriage. To check the home switch with no selections made scan the
record carousel with the service switch about halfway around then put
the switch in the operate position. It should run to the open spot in
the record carousel. (home position) Ray
