I have owned my machine since 1996 and have had no problems until just
recently. When the music selection was entered, the record drive went
to the chosen selection, the record transfer arm went up and then the
cycle stopped and did not complete engaging the record into the record
drive. Now the transfer arm is stuck in the up position and I had to
remove the record magazine to prevent the arm from breaking off.
Any ideas on what the problem might be and how to fix?

Check clutch solenoid inside the carriage - might be broken
