Does anyone have any recomendations for selling a big ticket item on
Ebay and taking Paypal?
I ask becuase I know a few people have gotten paid via paypal and
mailed the item only to have the payment charged back so they were out
the money and the item. So I want to protect myself as much as
possible.
Sue didn't this happen to you?
Also what best to use Fedex or UPS for prices? Do they carry automatic
insurance?

Boxes... and make sure it's been confirmed more than onces by Ebay/Pay
Pal (it'll tell you if they have a confirmed address). Also, if they
pay by credit card rather than bank account that might be some help
too as you can go to your company if something goes amiss. And when
you mail it, make sure you make them pay for insurance (and even if
they don't, you insure it). You could have a witness verify you
packed the item too (take a photo and get a sworn statement
notorized)... don't know if that'll help but part of the scam is
people are sending "fake" packages; empty... or claiming YOU sent an
empty one.

Speaking of the Xlist, I got two emails this week about it. Seems
even if not reaching the masses, it is doing some good. Actually, I
was pleased this week when someone emailed and said they DID NOT buy

should be a good site to read up on them. Financially however I think you'd
be losing customers if you don't accept them as an option. Without question
however ship the item signature confirmation and state you only ship to
confirmed addresses in your listing if you use them. That's a very
important step. You can get free price quotes online from both Fed Ex and
UPS so I'd suggest doing that as one may save you $10 or more. Also
insurance is included up to a point for UPS but if you are over $200 I'm
sure you'll be charged about $1 per $100 I think. Again this will come up
with the online quotes.

They could claim you never sent them the item. So with Pay Pal,
confirmed address is the main thing above all else.... because they
won't even entertain a claim without that. So no PO Boxes or overseas
addresses.

Yep, I think you and I talked about this before. I got screwed $70
and lost out on the items too because they complained to Paypal. This
was a few years ago before they were bought by Ebay so I don't know if
any changes have happened.
The buyer complained, Paypal charged back and I sat on the phone for
an hour three seperate times to have someone that couldn't help me
answer the phone on my third try. At the time, I had no way to
dispute.
Again, I hope they have changed since being bought by Ebay.
